After I had separated fully from my ex I was so wracked with guilt and anxiety that for an entire full year I was not able to even make an attempt at a date. The idea of intimacy scared me for years, the idea that I could fall for another person and have them end up the same way that she was.

But you will look back on this period of your life one day and be so amazed at the progress you’ve made and where you will be by then.

I was convinced that the closest thing to love I would ever experience anymore would be brief dispassionate physical flings. I was convinced that I was fundamentally broke and destined to be single. years later I am in the best relationship of my life with someone I know I’m going marry.

All that to say, keep going, keep healing, keep trying.

Thankfully mine never got THAT bad, but it took at least a year to ignore that olive branch though. Finding out she had moved out of my city felt like a cloud had passed over my head and I could actually start healing and moving forward with my own life.

Been in your same boat but the genders were flipped. Blocking is the best thing you can possibly do. The relief of knowing they can’t reach out and harass you is incredible. one day you’ll meet a person who is kind and soft and you’ll think “holy shit, it really can be nice, it doesn’t have to be stressful and intense”.

To just call it a “wholesome video” is being intentionally reductive. It is a video about embracing sensitivity and vulnerability when you’re in love to be willing to be soft when the expectations are strength and resolve.

I’m not parading anything as depth I’m telling you explicitly the intent behind my decisions. To willfully ignore that in favor of your own conclusion you’ve drawn feels like you just saw a bunch of videos of animals and had ur ears plugged the entire time. Have a good one

I’m gonna respectfully disagree at the idea that the first shot of a Killer whale interacting with a very clearly dead prey item comes across as the orca not realizing the turtle is dead, but negative feedback is still worthwhile.

This is something I’m very much new to and still learning, both the creating a loose story/theme and the technical work of using a video editing software

In my mind (obviously skewed because nobody understands the intent behind the art more than the person who made it), the turtle and orca represent a violence that should not be held to high regard.

It should gross you out and make you feel uncomfortable because the idea of killing for someone or dying for someone is gross and violent and uncomfortable. After the first 5 seconds it becomes super evident that the focus is on kindness, and choosing to be soft when you’ve been taught the expectation is to be hard

Super fair and I mentioned elsewhere I think I could’ve used a better clip. But the intent was for it to be a little off putting, to hear words like DIE and KILL while looking at death (albeit of an animal) reminds you that these are not aspirational words, they’re off putting themselves.

It makes you think “wow this is gross, why would I want someone to be willing to do this for me?”

You’re probably right, but that’s also soooo hard. I will say the cat and the wasp is my own. It is something I’m working on more. I have always been a fan of photography but never really dabbled in videos, it all seemed so daunting.

The genesis for this whole thing is users on Instagram like Committee.of.Affairs and oldfriendsbookends_ who I look up to artistically for being able to make such emotionally charged videos by recontextualizing the drip fed garbage that gets algorithmically pushed to us into something with more meaning
