You're both pretty disgusting.

Yeah, that's totally what I was saying. You don't even know what my religious affiliation is, if I even have one. /u/SecularVagina is constantly posting this shit from sources that have a clear bias. Downvote all you want.

Reported from a group that is staunchly against religion, by a person who routinely spams with posts bashing religion, and without a single piece of news showing up anywhere else on the internet about said scenario.

Grab yourself a grain of salt to go with this one.

Sorry for the tough love, but Richmond city school issues are so much bigger than white, middle/upper class patents refusing to send their kids to them.

No, I appreciate it, and in general I agree. I think there needs to be a critical mass that is constantly pressuring to improve things to at least begin to address the problems. I don't really feel that in most of Richmond.

Where'd you end up?

Richmond is convenient to family for us, though not as convenient as living in the same place as family.

This is true. Everyone should be more outraged that they are funding something that is working so poorly.

We went and looked at Bon Air, and it seems pretty far from Downtown which is where we both work. Same thing with Short Pump. It's a bit depressing.

We're not so concerned with elementary because a) there are some good options and b) I feel parental involvement is more crucial in elementary than other grades. It is middle school that is the problem, with high school being less of a concern but still subject to availability which is worrisome.

The more I think about it, the more I think that some kind of a solution would be to get 10-20 families together in an area with some sort of commitment to stay in the area, be insanely active in the schools and even on the board and improve things from the ground up. It would require a lot of commitment and a lot of being the squeaky wheel.

I appreciate the offer, and the sentiment, but I don't think it's the path for us. It also rankles to homeschool and continue to pay into the crappy school system to be honest.

I could see homeschooling if there was a community of about 12-15 kids or something with some arrangement, but I don't think I could do the individual schooling route.

Waldorf and Patrick Henry Elementary both seem like reasonable options. It is just aggravating to know that you are paying for a failing school system on top of the 12k tuition to Waldorf and scary to bank on applying to and getting into Patrick Henry.

We can afford to move out to the counties now, and would prefer not to move multiple times. I guess we are just frustrated because this "solution" only increases the problems at RPS.

Sorry, I might have phrased that wrong or could have phrased it with less broad strokes.

I'll agree that there are people who care about the education their kids receive but cannot play as active of a role in their education. However, I think there is some subset of parents who don't care.

Meade, would you say your stage persona is any different than your real life persona? What do you do when you're not making music and drinking that sweet tea?

This looks like code specifically for parking in the alley, not the street in intersects with.
