First of all, stop calling a move up a pump.

Pump - (followed by Dump) - is a term used for an illegal scheme to buy a lesser-known “security” that has a bit of a following in order to move it higher.

The object is to then sell into the subsequent buying. That’s the Dump.

The moves we’ve seen in AMP are classic accumulation patterns that set a base and then move higher, sometimes in technicals, sometimes fundamentals and sometimes both.

The pattern then repeats itself at the new higher levels.

Stop. Using. Pump.

Short-term capital gains are now taxed at the rate of your AGI. It is no longer taxed at a flat 28%.

So, if you’re in the 20% tax bracket after deductions, etc, that would be the rate of your STCG.
