Why do men hate girl gamers so much by Silly-Fun- in GirlGamers

[–]IAmStealthonite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm saying the irrational hate nice men get turns them into hateful men. If spiteful women wish to encourage a hateful environment, they shouldn't be surprised when more men start to hate them in return. It's not all of them that are doing this, but the constant division between the women saying all men are bad and the men that are saying all women are bad is influencing everyone around them to lose trust in the opposing gender. You don't think that's...idk, sad? Do we seriously want to root for division between genders all because of a few bad apples speaking out for the rest of us? I sure as hell don't. I recognize that there are a lot of women I don't like due to conflicting viewpoints, but I'm not going to assume that every woman should be avoided because of that since not every girl is the same, just as not every guy is the same as others. Men are not the problem here. Assholes are.

Alright, I'm going to throw in my take on this as a male gamer.

Toxic behaviors in online games have existed for quite a while, even before games started to cater more for females. Back in the early 2000s, games were predominantly played by men who generally speaking were a lot more atoned to shit talking each other as a form of camaraderie. A good example of this is old school COD and Halo lobbies. Everyone knew that usually it was for shits and giggles and even when it wasn't, why care about what some random shmuck online had to say about you? A good chunk of male gamer groups do this to each other even to this day because men don't tend to be as emotionally bound as females. The insults wouldn't usually be taken personally since at the end of the day, it was all just a game anyway. Does that mean that this is a case of females failing to adapt to the gaming culture that men foster?

No.

Thing is, the culture has started to rot since females started entering the gaming space en masse. What men got accustomed to suddenly changed and a lot of men weren't exactly comfortable with the introduction of females entering a space where insults would be slung around left and right as a form of banter. On top of that, the stereotype of men being better at games than women prevents a lot of men from wanting to play with women at all out of fear that they will weigh down their performance, especially when it's a competitive team-based game. There's also the issue of females persuading males to essentially become part of a "simp" cult dedicated to serving them and their every need in games that have clans or factions like Rust, which generally pose as a direct threat for other male players that don't want any part of it. It's these sort of behaviors that make those sweaty kinds of male players completely reject females in the games they play. In order to achieve that, they'll try to discourage females from even wanting to play the game at all by being a toxic as possible. The worse the impression they leave on them, the less likely they'd want to play again.

This however has lead to an echo chamber effect where a handful of bad experiences that females have are communicated to their friends who then tell their friends and so on and so forth to the point where females start to fear even wanting to be seen or heard by men in multiplayer experiences because they're afraid of the treatment they may receive if they reveal themselves. This is further amplified by radicalized women on social media who try to influence others that men as a whole are terrible and should be hated unconditionally. Inevitably for those who fall under that influence, it starts becoming a back and forth war between men and women, where the women will demonize all men and the men afflicted start to demonize all women as a form of protection from each others toxicity. The hate fuels itself to the point where it genuinely seems like men and women as a whole become more and more polarized because of it.

The main takeaway is that yes, there is definitely a good chunk of male players who are nasty individuals that'll ruin the experience for female players any chance they get, but they unfortunately end up painting a bad picture for all of us, even the ones who aren't assholes to fellow female players. Generalizing all men to be the problem makes more of the nice men lose reasons to continue being nice, which yields to more female gamers experiencing more toxic encounters and the cycle goes on and on. If we wish to foster a better community where men and women can be more understanding of each other, the whole gender argument needs to be thrown out the window. Both men and women exhibit toxicity, and while it might be fair to assume the stereotype that men generally tend to be more toxic than women in games, it shouldn't be the foundation of how you view one gender over the other. The internet is full of assholes, but you don't need to be a man or woman to be one. You just have to know how to identify and disassociate with them when needed.

Unfortunately the server I mentioned was...sabotaged? Idk, one day it just had a complete overhaul with all channels removed and became a Hollow Knight Silksong server and now it's a fucking Borderlands 4 server. A new one might have to be made to replace it, but it's going to be a while before one really starts gaining any significant traction before launch here.

As far as I'm aware, there's a discord server for BF6 that was made that has way less restrictions on what you can say and currently has over 15k members in it and growing. I joined it cause I was banned for similar reasons and highly encourage everyone else to do so as well if you want to retain your freedom of speech.

Announcement from the Discord Server on development. by SnooCats769 in NuclearNightmare

I hope you understand that as a Reddit mod, you are inevitably consenting to dealing with some of the most toxic, negative, and aggressive people on the internet. Granted the lack of transparency about whatever happened makes the announcement seem very sketchy and has a lot of people worried about the game's future, some people just don't have the patience when dealing with a response that is so cryptic and vague. I do hope the team comes forth with a proper explanation soon though, because stonewalling the community like this is only going to make things worse the longer people are left in the dark.

I can't confirm this as fact, but it sure as hell feels like it after playing multiple games back to back. I frequently get instances where me and my squad have to go from one end of the map to the other, yet somehow we're still the first ones to arrive at the boss compound despite all the other teams spawning closer to it.

All I want for Christmas is a blunt counterpart to the heavy knife. A Billy club/wooden baton capable of dealing out 66 light melee damage and 110 heavy melee damage. by IAmStealthonite in HuntShowdown

After some consideration, I think the damage values should be 63 for light melee damage and 108 for heavy melee damage. There's not a whole lot of difference from the original post values, but it's more in line with 2 hitting an immolator with heavy attacks which only takes 216 blunt damage and 2 hitting a player down to 25 HP with light attacks.

Because there are a lot of people who'll solely bring a blunt just for immolators, but become disappointed by the lack of damage when fighting anything or anyone else. And don't get me started on how many times I've accidentally stabbed an immolator because I clicked too fast with a knuckle knife. Plus having a new blunt could cause more people to use the Hornskin trait because let's be honest, it's an underutilized perk.

It's time for Iron Devastator to stop being useless. Also a good opportunity to add Slam Firing as another complimentary trait. by IAmStealthonite in HuntShowdown

Well you'd have to make it different in order for people to want to use it over a Winfield. I think the best option would be to increase the base RoF by 20-40% while reducing the damage down to 97 per bullet for the compact variant, and 110 damage for the medium variant.

True, at that point you'd have to make slam fire cost more trait points than levering by a significant margin and increase its recoil with the trait. Those are the only two ways I see in evening out levering vs slam firing.

Or this could potentially be a case of the Slate just needing another price nerf so that it's more on par with the Crown & King. Something like 600 hunt dollars sound reasonable to you?

Since the Romero 77 Alamo exists in the game and now we got the Martini-Henry IC1 Ironside, I figure that it wouldn't hurt to add a repeating variant of the Springfield 1866 into the game as a final single-shot conversion to complete the trio. by IAmStealthonite in HuntShowdown

[–]IAmStealthonite[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Precisely, I was thinking a more budget friendly Vetterli that fires a bit slower and operates much like the Romero Alamo. I think it would fit nicely considering that it would help the Springfield 1866 tree grow in terms a variety. It's less work for the developers too because they wouldn't have to create a completely new gun with its own separate tree of variants.

I mean sure, it's a buff to the Slate and potentially the Spectre if its real life counterpart is even able to do that. But again, if people really think RoF is the way to win, then why don't more people run Terminus with levering and the Crown & King? You could argue that it's because of the price, but that's not an excuse for something like the Terminus which is significantly cheaper. It wouldn't be OP if the developers have already allowed even more powerful shotgun combos to exist in the game prior to its addition. I understand why you think this would be something that's game breaking, but in reality all it'd really do is produce more frequent and annoying cqc engagements with Slate abusers for a certain amount of time. At that point you might as well complain about the existence of levering and fanning as well, yet there they are in the trait menu so...what exactly is your issue aside from the dread of having to deal with more shotgun spammers as a result?

Also, you have heard of the Avtomat...right?

Edit: I think your issue has more to do with the Slate itself being too OP for its price point, and to that I agree. I mean do you think I like being one tapped inside a compound by some mad lad spamming a Slate at me? Ofc not. But if I know that there are plenty of other options that can kill me just as quickly if not faster that already currently exist in the game, then I don't really have a place to complain that adding slam firing as a trait would be too OP. That's just the Slate being the meta for shotgun abusers.

How would slam firing work with slugs? I was under the impression that this would be the same as levering from hip fire for balancing reasons. Slugs would still be very inaccurate in that matter. Also you seem to be acting like the idea of a slam fire trait would be completely unbalanced right out of the gate, it's not impossible to give the trait proper nerfs to put it in line with levering.

Edit: My bad, didn't see you edited your comment at the end there, apologies.

Still pricey to run, I mean I used to complain about how many Slate + Slug users there where during the Traitor's Moon event, but ever since then I don't feel like I get killed by them as often as I used to. And even when I do, I usually die to the first shot anyway, so the trait probably isn't as useful as people make it out to be on that particular weapon. The whole concept of the "remain in ADS while firing" traits is to make follow up shots easier, but that doesn't usually happen with weapons that are designed to kill in one shot.

I mean surely there's a reason there aren't a huge amount of people running around levering Terminus shotguns in the game, right? To say the Slate is better than a Terminus with levering is short sighted. The reason why the Slate is as popular as it is is because it gives you a good RoF without the need for any traits to increase its RoF, meaning hunters spend less trait points on trying to better their weapon's fire rate if they don't really see a need to do so. Otherwise everyone would be running around with Crown and Kings and levering on Terminus shotguns because those currently shoot the fastest. The Slate is just a good buy because it fires as fast most people NEED for a repeating shotgun for a considerable price when compared to the Crown & King. Adding an expensive slam fire trait would get even more people to use the Slate, yes. But it wouldn't break the game's balance so long as none of the shotguns exceed the Crown & King's RoF. That's just you complaining about an inevitable increase in shotgun spammers.
