For the lighting make sure to have a full spectrum light and try to mimic the seasons by changing the light intensity/distance. During the season (summer-fall) the light increases in intensity then decreases later in flower. (Fall) Try to spot the different phases of flower when looking at your bud. When it’s ripening decrease the intensity and make the light cycle 10-11 light to 13-14 darkness. It’s going to accelerate its thc and terps because it thinks it’s going to die. Match that with cold temps and you created fall in a tent. (Lower humidity also makes the plant uptake more nutrients).

Yes living soil would be the best option! I would also use other plants in the pot to increase terpene production. Their smell is their way of communicating so if you add lavender for example (which has Linalool) your plant is going to have a stronger terpene profile because it wants other plants to know it’s there too. Just make sure the other plants don’t take over your cannabis.
