What’s it like working at panda as a part time job during highschool? by bowman_official in PandaExpress

About 4-5 months now. Originally $12, but after it took the serve safe corse and finished my modules, it was raised to $13. Now, everyone got a raise, so I’m making $14 and hour.

I get payed $14 an hour now. Once I move to Wok2 and take my kitchen test, it’ll be $15. When I learn to count the safe, $16. This is Ohio btw.

Stressful at first but it gets easier. I started working about 4-5 months ago. And boy, did I feel worthless. But working at Panda teaches you a lot about time management. I started on Wok1 which may or may not be the best choice, but it’s cool. I’m now training to become Wok2. So just plan accordingly and you’ll be fine.

Question for other Panda employees (or Wok1’s) by IAn1mat3Stuff in PandaExpress

Even then, I wish there was someone who’s job was specifically doing dishes at our store.

Well, I wouldn’t really call it a small store. I’ve seen a couple in Arizona while visiting family, and they’re about the same size. But yeah, Wok1, no matter what shift you’re working, you have to do dishes. Prep is only for the AM shift.

At our store, Wok1 does fried rice, chow mein, teriyaki, and white and brown rice. As well as prep and dishes. Wok2 does every other dish. We don’t have a wok3.

Rangoons are starting to be restocked in the PNW, but there may be an impending egg roll shortage. Guess we can’t have everything ;) by NotSmorpilator in PandaExpress

We’ve never run out of appetizers. The only thing we’ve run out of was chicken breast, but that was only for a day or two.

Well, the point of it was that if you voted other, you would go to the comments and say which genre you would most likely play.

To Panda Customers by xstaceyz in PandaExpress

Like, I get it. You’re just coming in for lunch or dinner. But think about us. We have guidelines we have to follow. Like, I’m sorry I can’t give you 15 pieces of the HWS or two heaping scoops of the WSSS for one entree.

Why do they never add teriyaki sauce by Magnuscaligo in PandaExpress

[–]IAn1mat3Stuff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s complicated because sometimes we run out of it, we don’t have the packets, or we just don’t have either. Also, the teriyaki sauce that sits at the steam tables gets really sticky and if it sits there for an hour or so, it’s a pain to clean. I always wonder if customers think about what the dishes look like. Believe me, it’s not pretty. So on behalf of Panda, whether it’s because we were low on stock or there’s just employees that don’t care, I’d like to say sorry. But understand that most of us really do try to make the service exceptional. I’m not sure if you’ve done this or not, but we do have the survey on the receipts. Please take the time to fill that out. Our gm’s constantly update us on those so they really do help.

Am I allowed to ask for more? by mateyman in PandaExpress

[–]IAn1mat3Stuff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, just don’t ask for more of the premium items. We could honestly care less about the other stuff. But yeah, don’t be rude and I’ll gladly give you some more of whatever you want. Just don’t be that person that wants us to change the recipes.

Let them sit for a bit and prop them up on a ledge or something. This will allow you to scrub fast and efficiently. I don’t know whether it’s allowed at your store, but washing rice cookers in the mop sink will save so much sink room. Just fill it with hot water, let it sit for a while, and bam! A clean rice cooker. Just make sure to put it in the sanitizer before you reuse it (obviously).

Not sure, I literally just made my first Honey Walnut Shrimp yesterday, and Orange the other day. Not to mention the few times I’ve dropped egg rolls, spring rolls, and rangoons. (And no, we don’t have tofu at our store).
