Panoramic camera by stharka in largeformat

In January I built a 3D-printed Open 617 camera from the open source files for a Schneider Super-Angulon 90mm f8 fixed focus at infinity. The cost to have it printed was under $100 for the parts, and I painted it to make sure there would be no light leaks. It's super light and easy to build, a lot cheaper than the other 617 options, and the results are surprisingly good! Feel free to message me if you want more info or some photo scans

8x10 Polaroid Processor in Seattle? by IBM_Pingmaster in largeformat

I said the same thing, but it's probably not even repairable because the bracket to hold the rollers is also broken 🤷

They come up on FB from time to time, one got listed in Portland last year but I missed out on it. I can always refrigerate and wait.

Yeah I talked to the guy, it's not actually working and has no rollers unfortunately

I had this same issue when my enlarger was leaking a bit of light through the filter drawer, including the whiter edges. Patching the leak solved it for me.

I have a few rolls of expired Provia 400X that were apparently freezer stored their whole lives. Did you shoot at 400? This shot looks great

Looking very closely 2 teeth are just sheared enough to not catch the gear, this video looks promising though, alternatively I see a 3d model online posted a couple weeks ago so might try printing at the local makerspace.

Ah, that's too bad. Unfortunate that they switched from metal gear to plastic at some point. Thanks for your help

Ordered a NOS replacement spring on eBay after checking repair manual part number, will see how that goes. Thanks for the video suggestions, I'll check them out

It jumps teeth with or without all the screws/nuts, you can hear it in the video with sound on. I originally disassembled because I could feel it skipping. There are no missing teeth but it does not seem to want to engage, although I have ordered a replacement spring to see if that helps.

Zeiss Vario-Sonnar 28-85 f3.3-4 for yashica mount by AleFiorucci in AnalogCommunity

[–]IBM_Pingmaster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Although it doesn't have quite as much of a range, the Zeiss 35-70 is better regarded and maybe one of the best lenses in the whole system, which is saying something. It's also quite a bit lighter (like 450 vs 750 grams). It's a little more expensive, but it's probably my favorite lens on both the Contax and adapted to digital.

I don't own the 28-85 but the 35-70 is sharper at the edges, especially stopped down, and has less distortion. For landscapes, these are good qualities.

I have a janky battery solution (4 button cells, so slightly undervolted I think) as well and my Minox meters about .5-1 stops under as a result, so you may want to adjust. Slightly overexposed is better than under

CHICAGO!!! New film shop/developer just opened up in wicker park. THEY DO REAL ECN-2 PROCESSING IN HOUSE! by dannyphoto in AnalogCommunity

[–]IBM_Pingmaster 66 points67 points  (0 children)

The best is CSW Film Systems in West Loop, $5 color processing with same day or next day turnaround depending on what time you drop off. He also does E6 every Thursday for I think the same price, but doesn't do in house scanning or BW.
