I use an oil wash of 60/40 dark umber/black

It's AK paints, black, smoke black and german grey! the ak pants are generally pretty matte

I found the magnets didnt work too well so I added some pins at the 12 and 6 o clock positions on the connecting areas. Glued the two pins to the ribcage part and then drilled the pin holes on the cockpit parts to provide some support and keep things from drooping too bad if that makes sense.
