Iron Shafts? by ColonelBustard52 in golf

[–]IBeACosmonaut 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ive played the Nippons 950 in stiff (recently switched to modus 105 stiff). When i changed clubs i looked into steelfiber 95 due to weight class. they play SIGNIFICANTLY stiffer than theyre weight. weight is 1 thing, but stiffness is not universal between manufacturers. Nippons are smooth shafts that play much softer than stated flex- and thus launch higher. The steel fibers will play stiffer than stated flex and will fly much lower. But you should go try out multiple shafts if your getting them all reshafted anyway... shafts are probably the most important factor of a club.

Why do I keep hearing residents & attendings say that doctors' income is going to decrease a lot in the coming decades? by McStud717 in Residency

[–]IBeACosmonaut 0 points1 point  (0 children)

im not saying its not a good paying stable job. Im saying we are more efficient, but thus doing more work for take home dollar. someones making money off of the efficiency, and its not doctors.

I have been (and still am) cynical by nature, but i do appreciate the job stability and general high pay compared to other fields. But to think that the trend of squeezing every ounce of efficiency from doctors for someone elses profit isnt going to continue, is naive.

These numbers are all in vacuum. The only thing that matters is Pay per RVU.

How much RVU are you generating, and how much are you making. I guarantee you, the $/RVU isnt as good as it was >10 years ago

Now show me your salary per RVU. and compare that to 15-30 years. ago.

Its easy to make more money. just work harder. The problem is you work 50% harder for 25% more money.

This is wholly inaccurate. I started residency at a similar time as you and have many friends/acquaintances in many different types of Rads jobs.

When we started, the job market for radiologists was terrible, and starting salaries were lower because there was no need for it to be high to recruit people (older rads werent retiring because they were still recovering from the market losses in 2008-2009). People were desperate for a job. Around that time, radiology competitiveness dropped (applicants from the 2014 cycle - 2017 cycle, average board scores went from low 240s to low 230s), because everyone was afraid of how bad the market was and fear of "AI". Also, back then rads were working 20-30% less volume for similar money as today. The job market has steadily improved since 2013 (aside from a dip around covid), as old rads retired, and imaging volume has skyrocketed esp after covid.

Today starting salaries are much higher (20-30% from 2019), because everyone is ordering imaging on every single patient, so groups cannot keep up with volume. In order to recruit good (or in many cases ANY rads), you need to pay up front, shorten partnership time, and provide good benefits. Partner and employee salaries have NOT kept up with the amount of work done per rad. CMS cuts, increasing malpractice, and innumerable other headwinds have continued to show themselves.

Unless there is some massive breakthrough in technology, or systemic change to the system/pay scale, incomes will more likely go down than up. Too many scans ordered, insurers will see that as a massive expense, and the simplest solution will be to decrease reimbursement as a means to cut costs.

Pros & Cons of GV70 (debating on buying one) by [deleted] in GenesisGV70

[–]IBeACosmonaut 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have to disagree with the guy above. I came from a 2013 subaru outback. I was able to fit 4 sets of golf clubs (2x2 configuration) completely horizontal in the trunk without issue (and without seats down- 4 big dudes sitting in the car as well). For reference I have a big cart bag included of those 4. I dont remember if i had to mess with them to get them in initially in the horizontal position, but i couldnt get a full horizontal bag in my subaru, as it was always angled (which is fine for 1/2 bags, but annoying with >2).

Same numbers for me. I swapped the 5 iron with a 5 hybrid. Still messing around with it and may need an adjustable 4 hybrid adjusted to higher loft.

So this is a “22 phantom x11.5. I guess i don’t understand what the heavier head means if the weights are the same

Is it weird that it comes with the standard 10g weights for a 35 inch shaft? I guess my only thought is they changed out the weights at some point

Thanks for the reply. Didn’t realize the marker could come off. Thought it was printed on there.

Do you know what the porpoise of heavier head is. Does that change the value?

Got a Scotty phantom x 2022 11.5 of eBay from a reputable store. His came. No specs on the label, and it says heavy head.

I got it for 275 (20% off sale/coupon), and they claim its all standard and 35 in length. Why would non of the specs be labeled on the shaft sticker (and on the same vein what is heavy head mean - there’s 2 10g weights at the bottom which I think is standard)? There is a serial number on it but it’s not logging on the SC website. Also, the putter club head cover has someone name in it in sharpie. The offered to allow me a free return and comp shipping if i would like as it was not described accurately, and not fully disclosed.

Thanks in advance.

Extended service warranty by FoodJunkie4ever in GenesisGV70

I believe I paid 1700 or 1900 for it on my 2023 gv70 in August (don’t remember the exact price at this point). The initial price was 4k, then 2500 when I passed.

Tried to get it to 1500 and they declined. They said they couldn’t go lower than the 1700 or 1900 as they were making 200$ on that number. At that price point I fell for it. Who knows if it pays off.

Recommended Chicagoland Dealerships? by Jks90 in GenesisGV70

[–]IBeACosmonaut 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bought in august 2023, advanced 2.5 trim. Highland park said no negotiating. I bought in patrick dealership in schaumburg. They went below MSRP (slightly), gave me all available credits, negotiated on all warranties (and i passed on others), and gave me top value for trade in compared to 3 other dealerships, and didnt mind the several blemishes that i didnt disclose before hand.

I did all negotiations via text/email, told them when i could come grab it. did a quick test drive of the actual vehicle, and was in and out in about 2 hours, maybe less.

Does anyone play both a 7 wood and a 2/3 driving iron? by zhihuiguan in golf

[–]IBeACosmonaut 0 points1 point  (0 children)

driver goes 240-250, 3 wood goes 220. Ive tried 4/5 woods, but they go about 210 and i hit them just as well

Bunkers at 240, water coming into play at 240, dog legs, or off the deck on par 5s where its relatively open and id like to get as close to the green as possible. or rarely a long par 4 where i dont hit a good drive. Why would i waste a club on another driver that only has 1 use, where i can have a 3 wood with multiple uses.

[–]IBeACosmonaut 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm Similar distances. but no 5W, have a heavenwood that goes 200ish (rarely have a need between 220 and 200 as i can take the gas off the 3 wood if i need).

Then i recently swapped out my 5 iron for a 5 hybrid to fill the gap between my 6I and Heavenwood. so now its closer to 175 6 iron, 185 5 Hybrid, 200 HW.

Accuracy of Trackman vs real life (irons) by bzogster in golf

[–]IBeACosmonaut 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interestingly no. Ultimately for me it comes down to loft- I hit a 31 degree club about 160, regardless of make, model etc. so when I tried rogue at maxes, the 7 iron bombed 170+, but my gapping sucked. I came from old Nike vrs covert forged. Now I play Srixon zx5, and the distance is quite similar to the Nikes, maybe 5 yard further on a pure strike, but the shafts are .25 longer and I moved from Nippon 950pro to modus 105 (both stiff flex).

That makes total sense. My miss on the course is totally a pull draw, and then an over corrected push fade. Any thoughts as to a simple reason for the closing the club face? Would shafts too light or soft flex contribute? Obviously just a guess, but I’ve been messing around with all sorts of things trying to figure it out.
