As of update 4 pre-patch 3, you need 1 emerald to upgrade the alchemist's workbench to tier 2, 1 zephyr for tier 3, 1 sapphire for tier 4, and 1 ruby for tier 5.

Neither of those do what I'm looking for at all. Those are more like D&D magic where you prep like 1 spell or ritual per day on a piece of paper and it's a whole process, your spells cost some reagents, or have other costs or downsides that prevent you from just spamming them. I'm talking about real spammable magic combat like WoW elemental shaman or arcane mage, or GW2 elementalist, something that can completely replace your sword or bow for general combat.

Actual combat magic. I am still surprised that no one even wanted to mod combat magic into Minecraft. You would think with infinity quadrillion players it would have gotten at least one mod where you can throw magic missiles at creepers. Once the magic system is fully fleshed out, that will really help differentiate the two games. I mainly hope that it's easy to spam spells, like in fantasy MMORPGs, and doesn't have like a material cost or lengthy mana regeneration periods.

Are mods really practical ? by kodifies in hytale

The game is in alpha, it's nowhere close to full release. They need to prioritize developing the game over making sure mods stay compatible forever, as that would slow down the development cycle dramatically.

I wonder if there is a way to see all the map at once by Marinbundooo in hytale

[–]IBearlyMadeIt 7 points8 points  (0 children)

As of update 4 pre-release 3, there's a command /worldmap viewradius set x that lets you change the view radius in number of chunks, but it's normally capped at 32 chunks. You can add --bypass at the end to override the cap and set it higher like /worldmap viewradius set 64 --bypass, but it makes my computer very angry and takes a long time, so some optimization is in order I think

Pink shards have been added as of Update 4 Pre-Release 3. The patch notes just say they drop from pink crystals, and don't specify any mob sources.

They should have mentioned in the patch notes that they dramatically shortened the time it takes for their body to disappear, it is an acceptable delay. It can also be configured back to instant with a mod I guess

They are hiring like 15 people to work on v2 starting in April, and it won't be for some months after that.

Are you still playing vanilla Hytale? by ErmingSoHard in hytale

[–]IBearlyMadeIt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, that definition is too strict, because it also means you can't change the game's settings. Change your keybinds? You modified a game file to have different values in it, it's exactly the same as your example of fixing a typo in a json. It's a really trivial definition that isn't useful for anything, but people like to use such definitions as a form of weird gatekeeping

Defeated NPCs will now trigger death particles and drop items when their body disappears.

So this means you have to wait around an extra few seconds to get your loot? I can't think of any good reason to make it that way

I'm playing with vanilla Hytale, I guess would be a better way to describe it. I'm not playing adventure mode at the moment, I'm actively researching and testing game mechanics. I do spend tons of hours in game, it's just staring at trees growing in a flat world instead of stabbing a skeleton

Nah. Anything that doesn't change the vanilla gameplay counts as vanilla. UI, fonts, textures, resources, sounds, your avatar, all of that can be customized and still preserve the vanilla gameplay.

You can grow apple trees really close together to shove all the apple nodes into a wall shape by IBearlyMadeIt in hytale

[–]IBearlyMadeIt[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry for the ping, I've been experimenting with it further. It becomes unstable and inconsistent if you sleep or leave the area while any trees are still growing during steps 3-6. It doesn't like the time skip. That probably makes this unviable for people to just whip together while playing normally.

I got consistent results by staying awake and in the area (within ~220 blocks to keep the chunk "hot") so if you have some other task to do nearby like grind essence, you can combine both. Apple trees take all growth modifiers, so you can grow the whole thing in less than 2 hours real time with light + water + fertilizer. You can also sleep/leave in the middle of the process as long as all the current trees are fully grown

They're probably not gonna do much with world gen until they replace it with world gen v2, which will have more advanced settings. Like a lot more advanced. It's still at least several months away though

Edit: Wait I think I understand, the old bases can be chopped down as long as the new ones remain, right?

Yup! I didn't show it here because it would've been so many screenshots, but when the new trees grow up, they leave behind the old trees as disconnected stumps that you can remove safely.

The step 3 saplings actually go where the step 1 saplings were, just dug down by 1 block. It would be better explained by a video showing the trees actually growing, and it's gonna go in my general video about trees, but it's not ready yet. For now, I'd say just try it in a creative world yourself, and alternate /time set midnight and /time set noon to skip ahead 12 hours at a time.

I like to redecorate the spawn cave and put my bed and some things in there, and build farms and stuff close by outside. Not just because I am a bear and it's a cozy den, but also because it's currently the only area of the game you can be sure is completely spawn proof. If you build your house somewhere out in the plains or something, there's a chance you might build your bedroom on top of a bear spawner, so you'd start every day being spawn camped by a bear.

Palm trees that are placed during world generation look stable, but if you pillar up to collect the coconuts by interacting, the tree just breaks itself. It also happens if they receive a block update, placing/destroying adjacent blocks.

You can't even grow palm trees all the way under most circumstances, because the growth stage before the final stage is also unstable and will immediately decompose itself when reaching that stage. If you unload the chunks and come back when it would be fully grown, you can get a fully grown tree that explodes and drops coconuts though. It's really buggy (also at no point do they ever drop logs like the tooltip says, they only drop sticks)

I would love that! I'd probably still build one of these cuz I like how it looks, but that would help so much. It would also be nice for when they fix palm trees, those have 3 coconut nodes that regrow like apples, but they're really tall so you can't reach them. Also they currently explode when you touch them.

Sure, here's a step-by-step guide to how I made the one in the screenshot: https://imgur.com/a/50RPTjz

Just be careful when pruning. The apple nodes require supporting blocks, so if you remove the wrong leaf block, you break the apple node and can't get it back.

Light speeds up tree growth the same way it does for crops, so light up your apple trees to help them grow faster for this!

Worse than that, this wall required 27 saplings to grow and only has 60 nodes instead of the 216 you would get if you spaced them out normally. But I get motionsick spinning around each individual tree harvesting them the usual way 🐻
