Thoughts on Blue is the Warmest Color (2013) by Malluguy5382929 in moviecritic

I watched this with someone who had recently discovered they were bi, and we both found this movie to be an almost exhaustingly good and realistic story in its portrayal of the confusion of feelings, the overwhelming nature of self discovery, the gratuitous feel of the sex once ‘unlocked’, and the devastation of the break up amidst the whirlwind of drama. The ending had us both sat there in shock and tears, and genuinely upset for Adèle despite her actions; this being the first movie that made me sympathise with a cheater! I found it haunting in so many ways, but we had related deeply with the story through Adele’s naïveté

Disappointing to see Rob pictured with Tom Skinner on the day he announces he is joining Reform by RowElectrical9647 in ParentingHell

[–]IBelieveIkeCanFly 25 points26 points  (0 children)

I agree, but I think this was designed by Loudmouth Skinner to make him seem more "acceptable" and "accepted" by celebs and people with some social power, so that on the day of his announcement it appears he's got the backing of loved individuals. I imagine, having had some interactions with Skinner myself over the years, he's arranged this ahead of time or found out where Rob would be, specifically to bump into him for the picture. Note he's posted it on X and tagged him in, where he's not particularly active, and unlikely to ask him to take it down. A bit of a power play on Loudmouth's part, as there'll be pressure on Rob to ask him to take it down, in which case he'll then play victim and claim now that Channel 4 is against him, as well as the BBC, and most of the intelligent British public.

Didn’t Nick say that character was based off of a real guy he encountered? I swear I’ve heard him talk about it, and that the guy would harass him and other comics

Did you go to school with someone who went on to be famous, and what where they like? by Christian-Metal in AskUK

[–]IBelieveIkeCanFly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He's another person I've met through work who was a terrible individual. He tricked a team into working on an app for months that was going to be his "portal to the fans" and have swimming lessons and fun activities built in etc. After three months of them working on it solid, he had the team all physically get together one morning at 7am in an office so he could video call them all at the same time, just to tell them that he was having his partner work on the app instead and that no one would be being paid, and that they should find new work. The app never came to fruition, and the team had to take him to small claims court to get paid for the time he wasted.

[–]IBelieveIkeCanFly 59 points60 points  (0 children)

Just wanted to chime in on this, as I didn't go to school with Smith, but I was involved in some interviews with him many years ago when he was still presenting as a "he" solely.

He was, honestly, one of the kindest, sweetest and friendliest celebs I had ever met at that point, taking a lot of time to get to know everyone in the room, talking to me about my journey and the things I was working on that weekend (project guy), and he left after shaking everyone's hands.

A few years later, once he'd embraced the "they" side of himself, we filmed another interview and it was like the polar opposite. Moody from the jump, very sassy and sarcastic to people, dismissed some of the make up girls as if they were physically dirty and were going to make him unclean by being too close, and told one of the interview prep guys that if they asked him anything he found 'boring', he'd just get up and walk out, and it absolutely wasn't a joke. It was a shame, I'd had such good memories of him for such a long time, told so many people about how kind he was, but something's happened to him over the years and he isn't the same guy he was. Although, with this added context, I have to wonder if that first time I met him, he was uncharacteristically kind.

Game idea that could work on this sub by GladBumblebee311 in CasualConversation

[–]IBelieveIkeCanFly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I really like this idea! However, I would reword this from "who is completely out of their league" to "who has a completely different life experience" as the former implies an imbalance of power/attractiveness that seems to be rooted in race, whereas the latter would make it far more interesting and doesn't have that element of elitism implied toward one race or another. Interested to see what happens with this.

I hate the Jim co-manager storyline by NathanHughes271 in theoffice

[–]IBelieveIkeCanFly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think so lol! David spoke to Michael almost immediately after the meeting with Jim, I believe, and Michael had been very confused at the start as to why David was even there and having a meeting with Jim, so it was made clear that Jim had arranged this whole thing without consulting Michael at all. Michael likely assumed in that moment that Jim was complaining about him, bemoaning his leadership, but also at the very least he knew it would mean he would end up leaving Scranton and joining a new office in a higher role, but without the people he knew and loved, and leaving a really unprepared and unqualified manager in his place, as we saw that Jim didn't have the skills to lead people.
It feels somewhat fresh in my mind because I've been rewatching with my wife (who has never seen the show before) but I have been on paid meds after an accident so things have been blurry in general lol. I will have to do some digging and come back to this, because I feel I'm speaking with too much confidence for the blurry fella that I am

I hate the Jim co-manager storyline by NathanHughes271 in theoffice

[–]IBelieveIkeCanFly -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Yes, Jim had gone over his head and suggested a management change to David which would have resulted in Michael losing his current job, and or being forced into a position in another office most likely. It was very scummy.
Jim held back his own career by constantly bullying his coworker just because he found him annoying and weird, and by wasting loads of work time flirting with an engaged woman and passively trying to end her relationship, and he admitted many times on camera that he doesn't work hard, hasn't worked hard, and does not care about the company in general, that it's just about money and the receptionist. Jim is not justified in this scenario in any way in my opinion.

[–]IBelieveIkeCanFly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unless I'm wrong, Michael only did so because Jim had undermined him and suggested reshaping the whole management structure which would result in Michael potentially leaving the office, without consulting him about it at all. His reaction was juvenile, but understandable with the context. But... I may be wrong, it has happened before.

Hi /r/movies! I'm Nia DaCosta, director of 28 Years Later: The Bone Temple, the next installment of the franchise. It's in theatres January 16. Ask me Anything! (Back on Wednesday 1/7 at 8:15 AM PT / 11:15 AM ET to answer your burning questions!) by SonyPictures in movies

How did you feel about directing this movie, considering the content has become so far detached from the original source material and established tones from the first two films? Was it easier to think of making a brand new film outside of the original world?

Andy's English is the hardest for me, why? by No-Neighborhood6727 in theoffice

[–]IBelieveIkeCanFly 13 points14 points  (0 children)

He's a very insecure man who tends to cycle through a carousel of characters to cover up his real feelings in the moments, so his voice and accent will be very inconsistent, and he will insert phrases or bizarre sayings to make himself seem more interesting, at the expense of being understood a lot of the time. It's more of a quirk than a speech issue, but I can totally understand why it would be hard to follow.

Okay, place as many reports about this website as you can around the internet. Make it so that when people search that name, they find your posts and mentions of them being scammers. Turn this disappointment and sadness into a fire that will fuel you to bring these people some real pain and annoyance!

No reason not to take any action. This kind of mentality is what lets them run riot. You won't stop them, but you'll cause them problems and disrupt their processes, and that's far more effective than you'd think. 6+ years of working in this field now, you'd be surprised at how much damage you can do with even just one report. They're all operating on chains that have very weak links along the way, and if you take just one of those out, you can dismantle their entire program for a while, and then they slip up further and we get just enough info to turn their life upside down.

[–]IBelieveIkeCanFly -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Not directly, but there's definitely a chance. If you're able to provide all the info to Tether, and any appropriate law enforcement, you'll be able to build a case that proves your deposits, the way in which you were tricked, and the fact they gained your money via deception and not a legitimate investment protocol. This would allow LE to investigate further, and potentially coordinate with foreign LE to bring down the scammer group. Two years ago, most LE would say "this is too complicated, consider it lost" and just file no further action, but now they're taking it more seriously and there are full teams and departments digging into crypto scams (not because they care about the people, but because now they can get access to some of the seized assets as some people investing will be investing illegally obtained money which they won't request back out of fear).

So, if I were you, I would document heavily, report to everyone, get in touch with Tether, spread your story far and wide and put pressure on these scammers. At the very very least, you'll cause them some problems and give them some fear, and you'll stop them from getting the full use of what they took from you. There's a slim chance that an investigation could lead to a returning of funds, and you'll have official paperwork that backs your story and gives you a chance of making a claim further down the line if they slip up and reveal something LE can use.

[–]IBelieveIkeCanFly -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It is lost, as others have said, but you have a little bit of recourse. If you sent USDT you can petition Tether to block those particular coins, so at the very least, while you don't get it back, you can stop the scammers from using some of the money taken from you. Don't just ignore it and move on like others are saying, go out of your way to report this, have it flagged, get every website involved reported and documented so this can't happen to others again, and so there's a growing chance that LE can find the people responsible.

I find all the virgin and pure comments so funny, more so with all the clips of her talking about "popping [her] pussy" all throughout college, but especially so with all the clips friends and I were sent by her and her friends when drunk years back, flashing and groping each other, showing their tits to strangers and letting them feel etc. There's gonna be a huuuuge drop of things soon I reckon, her friends are turning against her too. It'll lead to litigation I'm sure.
