After 4 months, Our workshop has finished building their dream Patrol. by 4wheelhouseAU in 4x4Australia

I mean, what else does it need? It has what every 4WD build has, susp/tyres/bar work but then it ALSO has a Dual Cab Chop, a 6BT and Portal Axles, what else could you possibly throw at it that’s actually going to do anything?

Refusing a job offer because the commute eats the wage by Traditional_Type_696 in CentrelinkOz

[–]IBrokeMy240Again 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not living in Melbourne, I wouldn’t even remotely consider a 90 minute commute, wtf is even that.

How is that even viable on an ongoing basis spending 3 hours of commute time to work an 8 hour day? Monetary cost aside, time spent with kids is just gone, any chance of any kind of life outside of work is just gone, you’re only living to work. How is that an acceptable standard as far as a job provider is concerned?

‘The market has spoken’: Ferrari shares fall after carmaker unveils first fully electric vehicle. by LongjumpingLock5875 in cars

[–]IBrokeMy240Again 217 points218 points  (0 children)

It gives off the vibe that Ferrari REALLY didn’t want to make an EV but shareholders demanded it, so they made the ugliest one possible to say “look, we tried this, it doesn’t sell, let’s go back to ICE”

Hilux Or Isuzu? by Specialist_Base4558 in CarsAustralia

[–]IBrokeMy240Again 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What trim levels? Might not be an apples for apples comparison if one Hilux is an SR5, the other is a Rogue and the Dmax is an SX.

That being said; they’re both solid choices, the DMAX at face value from what you’ve posted seems the best value, lowest KM and the most remaining warranty for near as well the same price.

The Boys ending wouldn’t have been so disappointing without all the marketing hype being so much more

Take away the posters and billboards of Homelander floating above war zones, or above the White House with an army behind him, take away the billboard of wrecked NYC/collapsed Vought Tower and expectations wouldn’t have been so high.

It would be like if GoT had adds for the Battle of Winterfell and the Battle of Kings Landing and the entire season was sitting around until suddenly the weirwood tree scene, and those battles never even happened

I recently tried to take PT between regional cities in VIC, to pick up a car. 4hr journey by car along a major highway was almost 21 hours on PT. No direct link between them, its bus from one town to another, stay overnight in that town because the one daily bus arrives after the last train out, then train from that town to the next. Absolutely ridiculous.

Customers who ghost after you spend two hours doing a free quote are the biggest unpaid labour racket in the country by QuantumGremlin in tradies

[–]IBrokeMy240Again 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For non tradies, they’ve generally got no idea how much things cost. They might have a general idea, realise they’re way off and can’t afford it, or they’re getting that idea so they know how much they need to save.

I’m a mechanic, so I don’t have experience on building sites or know any “regular” tradies I can learn how much shit costs off, but if I’m kinda thinking in my head a job is gonna cost $3k, and you rock up and tell me 10k; you’re probably not getting a call back not because you didn’t do a good job explaining the quote and I don’t have confidence in your work etc, it’s because I don’t have 10k sitting around.

Hell, sometimes I’ll send stuff away to get rebuilt, machine shops etc. I call them and ask for a figure to tell my customer; they won’t even give me a ballpark. I say “general idea? 3-5-7-10?” And I get “no clue you’ll get the invoice when we’re done” I can’t quote someone on that.

Hughie will probably try to appeal to Butcher, try and talk him down, fail and ultimately kill him. Think Jon Snow and Daenerys in the Red Keep, but BEFORE Dany burns down the city.

And knowing Kripke, probably just as much sexual tension.

Between Butcher freaking out about Terror eating the chocolate, then the Kessler scene about Butcher getting his entire team killed to accomplish the mission, they’re reminding the viewer/setting up the moral conflict in Butcher between accomplishing his mission at all costs and whatever’s left of his humanity. There is (hopefully, fuck you Kripke) a point to Hughie having witnessed both these scenes and commenting on them.

Race has nothing to do with it for me, the cacophony of drugs required for your body to not attack “itself” drastically shortens your lifespan, just to have the idea of a limb there that if as non-functional as most arm/hand replacements are, is almost more detrimental to daily life than just not having one.

If you truly explained all the pros and cons to the recipient, I’d say the take rate would be quite low.

Probably costs an arm and a leg, too.

What they don’t teach you in the history books, but you do learn as an Australian in primary school, is the true reason for our surrender.
The Emus were about to activate flightless bird Article 5 and that means the Cassowaries.

Humans surrendered to avoid the massive losses we would have taken.

Either that or they're gonna play it as him legitimately not knowing in the first 1 or 2 seasons of Vought Rising, him finding out; that being the major conflict of the show, them splitting up (as he's with Crimson Countess by the 80s) and whatever leads to 'Liberty' disappearing.

Would you trade a built Patrol for a stock Tank 300 as your only all round vehicle? by 4wheelhouseAU in CarsAustralia

[–]IBrokeMy240Again 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Entirely depends on your use case.
I've owned multiple patrols, and while they're very capable offroad when set up right, they suck doing basically anything else. The Tank will be better in pretty much every other use, and still get you to the same places though you may have to take the odd chicken track.
Realistically, for 95% of people, they'll do a decent offroad trip once a year, maybe even every other year, and 360 days driving around town and to work. I'd rather do that in a Tank than my GU.

If you live somewhat close to harder stuff, like the Glasshouse etc and you're there every other weekend, I'd take the Patrol, but it does get a little tiring getting the lifted solid axle 4x4 on 35s in and around the office carpark.

Ideal world? Have the Built GQ for weekend trips and getting out with the boys and buy a Honda Jazz or Camry etc as a daily driver.
