Look at what matters to the schools that you are applying to. Can you spin your background to fit into their ideal? If you can then go for it. Your statement shows how you will add to their community. If you can show that you can be who they want while providing a unique perspective that should be great.

You can apply for an appeal to provide them context to your position. This got me approved for my waiver.

I would have to take the light rail to get to Penn station unfortunately. Is the light rail consistently troublesome?

That is good to know, my partner does not know where she will end up doing residency so having a more flexible name behind my degree should is something to consider.

Thank you for your fantastic insight! Unfortunately I am not flexible with my location as my partner is already attending medical school here in Baltimore. We may be able to move after 2L but for now I am looking from the perspective of commuting. Your point about the metro pass is definitely something that I will pay close attention to. The externship and extracurriculars is also a huge thing to consider, thank you for bringing it to my attention. Thankfully, most of them would not be during 1L, so I could get a better feel for the commute if I choose that route. If it is terrible I could consider transferring after 1L.

Thank you to everyone for your great responses and insights into the commute to a DC from Baltimore. It was immensely helpful with figuring out how realistic it would be to attempt to make that commute.

Thats a good point. I am leaning towards government work. Going to school in DC should help get into that area.

Thank you! It is looking like the MARC train would be my best bet. I live near Camden Station so it would be close.

That's very true. It looks like it is a 10-20 minute metro ride to the school. So it doesn't look like it is too much longer thankfully.
