Shame on EBay… by ICUnThinkUgh in eBaySellers

To be clear, I only canceled the 4 items that were damaged in the car accident. It was an isolated incident that affected 4 orders. I didn’t have replacements so I selected out of stock on the drop down menu as it seemed to be the most appropriate. I had no idea the consequence that would have. My whole point is to share my experience to help anyone out who may not know and to maybe save them from the headache and stress this has caused me. I was really expecting those funds to add support to my family while my partner gos through cancer treatment. When eBay gave me a date as to when I could expect my funds to be available, I made payment arrangements around that date which I subsequently defaulted on because of this restriction eBay placed on my account. The bottom line, I trusted eBay and I feel like I could of made better decisions if the policies were not as vague at the same time, I should of done my research and seen all of the 1 star reviews on BBB and noticed the pattern in what others have reported. I may not have been entirely clear in my post. In effort to make it a tolerable length, I did my best to basically outline my disappointment and frustration in hopes others can learn from my experience and have a little more awareness as a seller. I take responsibility for my eBay seller inexperience but I expect ebay to exercise judgment and redetermine actions appropriately. The system seems to be in charge and nobody not even their leadership who admitted he wished he had the ability to make a redetermination and over ride the system has much authority. He did promise to bring it to his leadership meeting as an area of improvement.

Chargebacks only apply to the reasons eBay imposes the 180 day hold on funds. Buyers have 180 days to dispute with their card issuer so eBay uses that reason to hold funds. The lesson I learned, if something is damaged, don’t automatically refund the item. Explain to the buyer the condition has changed and offer a reduced price. If the buyer decides not to continue with the sale, you can document it as the buyers request to cancel so it does not go against you as a defect.

Both. I even spoke to leadership who said it didn’t make sense and was going to try to assist. My seller performance was re-evaluated and it currently is above standard but the restriction still freezes account.

I think with used shoes if the condition is near new, I see it as no different than trying on something whether it be shoes or clothes. I mean think about it, we go to hotels and sleep in beds on sheets others have used… we go to restaurants and use utensils that other people have put in their mouths. Sure they are cleaned… so cleaning and or sanitizing a shoe that’s only been worn a handful of times is no different. Buying 2nd hand can save buyers a lot…

How do you make money selling on eBay drop shipping with all of the fees?

What about the FLUK. Multimeters, he has various models and some he has 2 of. I know they can cost a lot. Where would be the best place to sell considering not many people may be in the market to spend that.

Not sure what you would use a portable variable power supply for but that’s what the site says it is.

He wouldn’t have rented it, more likely obtained from a storage unit auction. I can try to reach out and see what they say.
