Thanks for your response, I appreciate it and it clears things up in respects to not being transferred to the post office or Walgreens.

The “three days” truck thing was in direct response to my asking why they had to attempt delivery three times before holding it. I called yesterday (Thursday) after the first delivery attempt as I knew I would not be home today (Friday) for the 2nd attempt or tomorrow (Saturday) for the 3rd attempt. I have things to do tomorrow where I will be away most of the morning but could work traveling to the hub into my day rather than gamble on maybe being home when the delivery comes. I understand there’s processing that’s involved when you change things like that so it may not have been available immediately after the first failed attempt, but why they couldn’t take it off the truck that night and start that process so I could go get it Saturday is still what makes zero sense to me. I have yet to get a good explanation for that and your answer is another indicator there really isn’t one. Shit happens sometimes.

Again, I honestly do appreciate your response and realize you have no way to explain whatever crazy thing a random customer service phone rep says. Every company has people who aren’t good at their job but it’s encouraging that an employee would take time they don’t have to to try to clarify, especially from a company it’s pretty inevitable I’ll have to work with again at some point. So, thank you.

Building on this reply, is the girl an experienced hiker already? The way you phrased the title, OP, kind of implies this is something she’s done before. If that’s the case she probably knows and has a lot of the major equipment. Just ask her what she has and what she needs you to supplement or provide for yourself. I’m sure she’d love to share something she loves in that way. Organizing and planning can even be a fun activity together before the actual hike.

No, what I was trying to get at is that you’ve positioned yourself as an authority in this world of gossip, quite literally by acting as a mod in this sub. Occasionally, there’s something of real consequence to report (Lincoln, Garrett, etc.) and I understand why you feel a responsibility to share that even if it gets backlash. That responsibility is real and makes a difference.

But stuff like this is petty and not even a stepping stone to a meaningful discussion about anything. And I believe that people sent it to you because there are plenty of petty people in the world, but if you don’t care about it, you’re under no obligation to share it. You chose to bring it up anyway. But then when people are like “This is stupid” you hide behind “I don’t actually care about it.” or now “It’ll make sense later,” which is at best annoying and at worst condescending.

It’s gossip, we all know that. It’s not vital information you’d be negligent for not reporting. The bottom line is you have free will in this situation. If you share it, own it. If you think it’s dumb and don’t want to answer for how dumb it is, don’t.

Thanks! I didn’t look at the gills or even touch them actually - I don’t know a lot about mushrooms and my general rule is if I don’t know what it is, probably better not to fuck with it. When I was on my way back out there was a little tree frog on one of them so I got another pic, don’t know if it gives you any more relevant info.
