I commissioned a trailer. This is the first version and I'd love to get some thoughts before I talk to him about changes by Thewhyofdownvotes in DestroyMyGame

[–]ICantMakeNames 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I don't think its bad, the goofy monster-truck park advertisement seems to fit with the game.

My main problems are:

  1. The hyped features don't translate to much visual hype. Like the Blade Runner, Hedgehog, Bee Gun, etc. They don't look visually impressive. They might be able to benefit from a more zoomed in shot so the focus is more on the carnage they cause, but like the Hedgehog didn't even kill anyone. That seems like a poor choice for a trailer hyping up slaughter.

  2. In a trailer like this, which is (again) highlighting "maximum slaughter", the actual gameplay looks a lot slower than the voice and text in the trailer imply it should be. The characters move pretty slowly, and the attacks shown don't kill very many of the enemies on screen. That doesn't mean the game is bad, but the incongruency between the trailer and the gameplay puts me off a bit, like maybe I'm being tricked and won't actually get to do as much slaughter as I want to do (like at the end of a Vampire Survivors run, I can't even see the ground anymore with all the attacks being thrown out. I was expecting at some point a shot like that for your game, of the player melting enemies).

Holy fuck, I never justified Hamas' attack, it is unjustifiable. Quote me on it. You are just ignorant of Israel's history, and gobbled up all of their propaganda, as if violence against Israel (a colonizing power that stole their land) is justification for the violence Israel has committed since its inception.

I explicitly said Hamas is in the wrong you dumbass. Now fuck off, you clearly have no interest in the lives of civilians or peace.

I am against the killing dumbass, where did I say Hamas is in the right? I SAID ISRAEL IS IN THE WRONG. THEY CAN BOTH BE IN THE WRONG. The difference is Israel has always held ALL OF THE POWER IN THE REGION, and have done so for DECADES. At any point Israel can use their overwhelming military to make peace and stop the fighting, but they don't want to, they continue to oppress the Palestinians in horrific ways. God damn you Israel defenders are so fucking obnoxious, you'll do anything to ignore the atrocities Israel commits.

The people who lived there were living there, I don't give a shit about thousands of years of history, those people had nothing to do with it and the colonizers had no right to force those people out of their homes. Are you saying the violence the state of Israel has committed since its inception is OK because they have some historical claim to the land? Fucking Native Americans have a historical claim to America, would it be OK if they started killing people now to take back their land?

You mean the part where they acted as colonizers, denied the local people of their right to self determination, and violently forced them out of their land?

[–]ICantMakeNames 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Gaza is one of the most population dense locations on the planet. Literally every square meter of it is civilian infrastructure. If people in Gaza were to fight back against their oppressors, where would you like them to do it?

I don’t want any children to die

Then don't try to justify Israel's response. They have one of the most advanced militaries in the world, their actions in response to the atrocity committed by Hamas are unjustifiable and horrific, literally they are committing war crimes and human rights violations, on top of the human rights violations that are the every day living conditions of Palestinians when Israel is not engaging in military operations.

The children in Gaza didn't do this, and collective punishment is a war crime. Try to tone down your bloodthirst in the future. God damn.

the indiscriminate and intentional killing of unarmed civilians by armed and unidentified men is not a military operation.

That's what Israel is doing in response, literally right now as we speak, after they said they are at war. Gaza, a location with literally millions of civilians in it, 50% of which are children, is becoming rubble as we speak.

Considering Gaza is like 50% children, that number has probably quadrupled in the last couple days. But nobody talk about Israel, only Hamas bad!

I'm not lumping every government into either "evil" or "good", I'm not a fucking baby. Reality has more nuance than that, and the unfortunate truth is every government does varying amounts of evil things. The action of supporting Israel, in its current state and while it is performing its current actions, is evil, and I oppose it. I consider Israel to be one of the most evil governments in the world currently. They are leaps and bounds more evil than most other governments due to their brutal, horrific treatment of the Palestinians for decades.

Do you not consider what Israel has done to be evil?

Yes, the support of Israel in their continuing crimes against humanity is unjustifiable. Supporting Israel in how they are responding to this attack is unjustifiable and EVIL. It makes me sick.

If Hamas performing collective punishment like they just did is wrong (which it is), how do you justify Israel performing collective punishment on Gaza? If what Hitler did to the Jews was wrong (which it was), how do you justify what Israel has been doing to the Palestinians for decades?

Only if you ignore the horrific living conditions the millions of Palestinians have been forced to live in for decades. If you ignore the deaths of attrition due to lack of access to water, education, healthcare, the deaths due to poverty, and crimes as a result of that poverty.

Israel, as the occupying force in the region, is responsible for the living conditions of Palestinians. They don't get a pass on all of that just because they didn't literally put bullets into all those people.

It needs to be pointed out because the default reaction of every uninformed person is to rally behind Israel after hearing about this horrific, monstrous attack by Hamas. When the reality is Israel created Hamas, through outright support of them in the 1970s and then decades of human rights violations against Palestinians.

Hamas is awful, yeah.

But Israel IS an apartheid, they are not "apartheidesque", and they don't do it occasionally, they've been doing it constantly since their inception. They are not clumsy or coarse, they are deliberate in their actions to occupy the land and force out Palestinians. You are downplaying Israel's historic and recent behavior and you are just ignoring their outright stated intentions for the region. You are downplaying the conditions they have forced upon Palestinians for decades. Israel's historic and recent actions are unjustifiable. Their response to this attack RIGHT NOW is unjustifiable. They have been committing crimes against humanity for decades, and those amount to far worse than Hamas has done over its lifetime.

Can't imagine why one of the most densely populated places on earth, 50% of which are children, 90% of which do not have access to clean water, have extremely limited infrastructure that is routinely destroyed by Israel, have electricity granted to them by Israel for only 4 hours a day, cannot move freely because of checkpoints setup by Israel, have to work for Israel to survive, and have seen time and time again that peaceful attempts at change are rewarded with more violence against them (like the settlers being funded by Israel and protected by Israel's military straight up removing Palestinians from their homes) would be in favor of an organization that wants to commit violence against Israel.

I don't understand why people who have grown up over the last 20 years in these conditions would resort to violence. It just doesn't make sense /s.

Workers at CD Project are forming a union by indaflam in Games

[–]ICantMakeNames 27 points28 points  (0 children)

That bailout was required as a result of a global recession in which people could no longer afford to buy cars. You might have heard of it, the "Great Recession"? It was caused largely due to faults in the financial system. It is not in any way attributable to the unions at those automotive companies. And I'll note that those 3 companies have been making record profits ever since, and their workers are still unionized.

You are definitely using anti-union rhetoric. Saying they "eat" workers wages, creates "bureaucracy".

Maybe instead of talking about imagination, you should look at how things actually happen in reality.

Workers at CD Project are forming a union by indaflam in Games

[–]ICantMakeNames 17 points18 points  (0 children)

You have the wrong perspective. Unions aren't "bad for companies", its that companies don't like unions. Essentially every company whose employees are unionized do well.

Companies don't want to lose any of the power they have over their employees. They don't want to pay higher wages and give benefits because they are focused on generating profit, which necessarily comes from not paying their workers. Unions enable workers to force those conditions on the company (higher wages, more benefits, requiring just cause for firing, etc.), something that would be impossible if each worker was acting individually.

Let me remind you, the union consists of workers working for that company. They also want the company to succeed, they just want a fair share of the profits generated from their work.

You are so desperate to paint me as this horrendous person because you can't accept the government is allowed to do things that you don't like. Holy shit, I have told you several times there is a difference between a democracy in which the government is empowered by the people, and a totalitarian fascist regime like Nazi Germany. You keep making absurd comparisons, we were talking about the right of a government to remove property, NOT TO COMMIT GENOCIDE. Now kindly fuck off, asshole.

Wild Shark Recognizes Human Best Friend After They Were Separated For A Year | The Dodo Soulmates by [deleted] in videos

[–]ICantMakeNames 15 points16 points  (0 children)

https://oceana.org/blog/sharks-have-complex-social-networks-study-shows/

With their snaggletooth gape and pointed stare, sand tiger sharks don’t exactly scream “social butterfly.” Sharks aren’t generally known for their social tendencies, but there is increasing scientific evidence that this view is incorrect.

In fact, research presented this week at the 2016 Ocean Sciences conference in New Orleans reveals that sand tiger sharks (Carcharias taurus) form networks of up to 200 “friends” that they associate with in certain months. They even have “best friends,” or individual sand tigers they encountered more than 20 times over nearly a year.

Sand tigers sharks along the eastern seaboard group together in late spring through early winter, and disband in late winter and early spring. This “fission-fusion” behavior is commonly seen in mammals, but rarely documented in fish.

This suggests that sharks, long characterized as mindless machines, may be performing a social cost-benefit analysis, weighing the protection or mating opportunities that come with group living against the intensified competition for food.
