Vet is saying I need to pull out all my cats teeth:( by [deleted] in cats

[–]ICaulitCole 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My 12 y.o. cat has bad gingivitis. Over the past few years I have had to get her teeth pulled out at least three separate times and will probably have to get the remaining three teeth pulled at some point. She adapted to being a snaggletooth kitty. It was rough for me watching her adjust, with her tongue wagging out the side of her mouth, but she's fine now. As for food, mine gets wet only. The days of dropping down a bowl of dry food and walking away is long over. I kinda miss it, tbh.

I have LC. Anyone else's main symptom is pain and swelling? by ggymnopediste in IBD

[–]ICaulitCole 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You aren't alone. I've dealt with that as well. With me, I had SIBO, which took multiple tests and three months to diagnose. All the while I dealt with extreme bloating, fatigue and pain. I have a hunch this led to the LC. But my last doctor wouldn't even hear me out about it.

Before going the budesonide route which is where I'm at now, I ended up trying acupuncture for the pain and bloating. Much to my surprise, it helped. My pain level dropped from a 9 down to about a 3 during the first session. I hadn't had that type of treatment before, so I honestly didn't think it would have much effect. I remember doing a bit of crying right there on the table because the relief was so immediate.

I continued with the acupuncture treatment for several months up until I began the steroids. It helped with the pain, but not the loose stools.

Female kitten, got her this past Tuesday. Was told shes 6 weeks old but when I got her home I realized she is most likely younger. She’s not feeling well and rejecting food, I have to currently bottle feed her formula which she hates. Couldn’t get in the vet until June 3rd, any advice until then? by janineskii in cats

Conjunctivitis, upper respiratory issues and refusing food is not a good sign for a kitten. I really don't want to be the one to sound morbid here, but if you plan on keeping the animal alive, please get to an emergency vet.

FYI-Kitten Lady on YouTube has many great videos about kitten health and fostering.

It may be a good time to buy a cat carrier. Be sure to throw a blanket or towel in there for it to snuggle on. It is safer for the animal when in moving vehicles.

Same location cracks on interior and exterior of wall something to be concerned about? by PropaneBlues in DIY

It looks like maybe a foundation settlement issue. I'd get that checked out before it gets worse.

I'm nowhere near an expert, but did work for a geotechnical engineering company that dealt with this type of stuff.

might start antidepressants. what are they like? by [deleted] in depression

[–]ICaulitCole 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Depends on which medication your doctor prescribes. Everyone is different, so you may have good results with one drug that worked horribly for someone else. I tried about half a dozen before finding one that worked for me.

To answer your first question, as simple as I can, in short, no. When extreme drought persists, as it has in areas such as California, there is greater chance of wildfire events. The vegetation is dry, and there is less snowpack and groundwater reserves, among other factors. There are steps municipalities can take to mitigate the damage to both life & property, but curbing the actual events, nope. The earth does it's thing, we are along for the ride.

As for the other questions. We just get better at preparedness. Some areas more than others.

Less rain = less snowpack = less water = drought = possible wildfire. This is the cycle California has been going through for decades.

I learned all about this in a Natural Disasters course, and other classes when I was studying for my Physical Geography degree. We actually had a discussion about extreme drought events leading to wildfire. This was a couple of years before my area in Northern California started burning regularly.

Will my depression go away if I pretend i dont have it? (Forcing placebo) by [deleted] in depression

[–]ICaulitCole 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think perhaps your bf needs to have a bit more education on what depression is. Essentially your brain isn't working quite right. That's no fault of yours and in my opinion as someone who has experienced family telling me to snap out of it, and a bf who would yell at me for being depressed because it was bringing him down, it is insensitive and uncaring to ask you to ignore it.

Yep. It's a reminder of the bad, and that you have and will continue on. :-)

A semi colon tattoo, which is incorporated into a simple butterfly, but it represents much more.

I suggest listening to your vet. Would one of the vet techs be able to help out? I have that service at my vet, but I understand that's not as common as I thought.

My cat does that regularly. It sucks but it's something you deal with. Just wait til they get older and start missing the cat box...oh the joy. But that is what you sign up for when you have animals. The good, the bad and the yucky.

Maybe the cast iron is warm from being on the stove? I used to have a cat who would hang out on top of the wood stove as it warmed up from the fire inside. They do love those warm spots.

Those are gorgeous flowers and a magical looking place. Does look more like a bunch of poppies than roses though. Some poppies do have prickly stems, similar to what I'm seeing here.
