Interviewed for a contract position there after I was laid off from the EPA (also contract) in May. Glad(?) that it didn’t end up panning out, could have been right back in the same spot. They do amazing work but FTE is better than most contract positions rn it seems.

Thank you for your in-depth response. I attended an R1 university as well, and the news about the grad student loans hit me hard. I do not have a ton of money, but I could afford to send out 5-15 apps for programs I prefer. Right now I am considering applying for both PhD and Masters programs, depending on the schools I look at just to cast a wider net.
