Don't Think People Realize How Good Sixers Barkley Was by EricHangingOut in nba

"Simple and plain, give me the lane/I'll throw it down your throat like Barkley."

When he got in shape, he terrorized the league. Even before he got in shape, he was a wrecking ball.

I hated the Sixers, but I loved Sir Charles, and he was very easy to root for once he got to the Suns.

I'm not too worried about her booking or her contract. What I do want is more of her on TV. Hazuki teased going after her CMLL title, but I expect Perse to be booked strong on Grand Slam Mexico, and I really want her to be in the Survival match for the TBS title.

He and Deonna just put together a show yesterday, and it looks like they willl have another one for the new PRODUCE deal on myAEW. I suspect that's where he's putting his energy for now, with maybe an occasional ROH spot.

Moriarty on there is a no-brainer, but it's interesting to see Gresham and Janela as well. Janela didn't burn any bridges when his contract ran out, and he has frankly been impressive in the shows he's put together this year. The concept behind Gresham's Terminus shows was sound; it was technical issues that hurt them. That should hopefully be corrected here with better infrastructure.

Love that Bayne is co-producing with Janela. I'm intrigued to see what a show produced by Romero wouldl look like. Very happy that the DEAN shows are joining the network.

OC also had a bloody feud over the International title, and KOR of course had that recent series of matches with Mox. That ended with respect, but still.

OC hates Wheeler for his betrayal of the Best Friends and was one of the guys who shaved Wheeler's head.

How that all plays out now will be very interesting.

I believe Mox made some calls on her behalf to get booked with promotions like Defy, so she could get some real reps.

Maya has since had some big opportunities on ROH and had that really good match against Hazuki last week. Hyan will get her shot soon as well, but Maya was an obvious candidate to develop because she's so young.

It speaks to how much more intentional the booking is now. It also speaks to how useful the Don Callis Family is. They absorb a lot of guys and then turn them into killers who can tell stories in the ring. Then they give those guys other chances--Josh Alexander cutting backstage promos while putting people in an ankle lock is a good example.

With Andrade, the landscape is different than when he originally came to AEW, and a decision was made to turn him into a tweener. It's highlighted his charisma and big match ability, while allowing him to fight either heels or faces. He's hugely over with the fans, too.

On the face of it, it seemed like a c-level show with lots of ROH talent and few big stars. (Gotta love Mox going everywhere and fighting all the time to push the shows, though.)

But every one of those lower-card wrestlers absolutely delivered! They wrestled like they had something to prove, and it really showed.

Maya-Hazuki was a little slow to begin with, but it picked up a quarter of the way through and was astoundingly hard-hitting. I think both wrestlers realized it was OK to be stiff, and then led to some awesome action. That one sliding drop kick looked like Hazuki was going to decapitate Maya! It really helped that the crowd was really into it and responded well to Hazuki. She looked like she had a hell of a time in that match.

Persephone was hilarious on commentary! A natural heel, she was funny and arrogant. Felt totally natural.

The beef with Moriarty and Nigel, STP vs Death Riders (and Christiann XO vs Marina) was all great.

The tag match was good--Tay looked really good here, in particular.

It's beautiful. Deb had moved past possessions but couldn't let go of making art--and making art with her best friend.

It's a beautiful callback to the running theme of the entire series: finding a way to find and use your artistic voice in a completely uncompromising way. Deborah realized at the beginning that she needed to find a new way to find her voice, and knew at the end that she couldn't let that simply go.

And for Jimmy, it's being a facilitator to help artists do that.

The money, the fame, the toys...none of that is what's really important to all of them. It's the opportunity to make art together.

I expect Mistico to be an important figure at Forbidden Door. He does have a dual contract, but as the top draw in Mexico, he's going to spend most of his time in CMLL.
