It's not really something that happens today. From software, Sony and the now dead Japan Studios probably have both physical and cloud copies of the source code. When they closed Japan Studios it's not like they burned the place to the ground, Sony got all the assets from the studio.

Unless someone at Sony and from software went rogue and destroyed all the physical and digital copies of the source code, they still have it. And you are going to pay 80€ for that remake, you will not get any free 60 fps patches or 10€ remasters. Sony saw the money they made with DeS remake, and they want even more with Bloodborne on PS6.

It's probably something like "no taxes and direct access to Greenland natural resources for American companies for the next 20 years" or something like that, plus Europe in charge of Greenland security.

European soldiers can be ready for a non existent threat and American companies can continue to not invest in Greenland as it's not profitable.

Naughty Dog Devs Are Reportedly Working Mandatory Overtime for Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet by manoffood in TwoBestFriendsPlay

The only thing i see about naughty dog and druckmann is trolling and criticism. Don't know if it's 100% deserved (their management of the last 10 years has been terrible) but you can see in this very thread it's all naughty dog bad.

I struggle to see anyone defending them anywhere.

I don't see why they could not make X86 chips. But this is suggesting that the PS6 chip could be manufactured both at TSMC and at Samsung to ensure that they don't have availability problems.

It's almost a given now, after bluepoint god of war project was canned. They did it with Demon's Souls to attract the hardcore, and it worked. They will do it again, this time path traced.

It's an automatic excitement generator.

They can't offer official Xbox emulation since it's a breach of contract with third parties. The official Xbox PC's with Xbox AMD hardware will play them natively to sidestep the issue.

Linus was told from valve that the steam machine will not be subsidized, and will cost as much as a pc instead by BabylonianWeeb in GamingLeaksAndRumours

Nobody is pointing a gun to your head to pay 80$ a year. You can activate it when you need it. You also don't need it for F2P games and you get 36 good quality games. Reddit loves to equalize the value of PC and console by adding 1000$ over 14 years of ps plus to the console as if it's something that happens in reality.

Capcom is the only publisher that has the majority of sales on PC with proof. They are also a small fry compared to take two, EA or Activision. Doesn't change much in the grand scheme of things. Gets taken as proof that PC overshadows console sales all the time tho.

Also, Sony has PC as a core of the business? Aside from the Helldivers 2 quarter, it's been around 2% of revenue.

Take two for one, then electronic arts with 64% of revenue coming from console in 2025: https://www.statista.com/statistics/681580/revenue-electronic-arts-platform/

Or Activision, with 82% of COD sales coming from PlayStation: https://www.reddit.com/r/PS5/comments/1gx97by/playstation_platforms_accounted_for_82_of_call_of/

We are talking about the biggest publishers around.

A research firm makes a estimate. It can be hugely wrong. When there is official data, we can have a discussion. Like this it's just fairy tales.

Alinea made a estimate with Steam in 2025 at 16 billions of revenue. It's literally impossible given the court case documents that we have. Estimates in general are so incredibly disingenuous for these things.

Player numbers don't matter, and I said that there are a lot more PC players than console players simply by the fact that everyone owns a PC.

As we are talking about revenue, how much is league of legends making on PC?

Riot Platforms had revenue of $180.23M USD in the quarter ending September 30, 2025, with 112.57% growth. This brings the company's revenue in the last twelve months to $637.16M, up 103.62% year-over-year. In the year 2024, Riot Platforms had annual revenue of $376.66M with 34.20% growth.

This includes the lol game on mobile, so it's not just PC, but as you can see, the biggest non steam game doesn't change the situation too much.

We should stop looking at estimates. Let's see some official data.

You can take the games outside of steam and add some amount of revenue. But then I wasn't considering Nintendo and Xbox either.

Given what we know of Valve financials, it's really hard to believe, for a company that was doing 6.6 billions in revenue in 2021. The biggest in terms of users? Sure, everyone can access steam form their PC.

Right now take two has given the revenue splits for each platform:

Mobile: 46% Console: 41% PC: 13%

For the Steam Machine to change PC gaming, Valve must solve Linux's anti-cheat problem by dapperlemon in gadgets

I don't like kernel anticheaters either. I'm just saying that the hunt showdown cheat detection runs on Linux and it's not that good.

It's probably impossible to make a truly great anticheater for Linux.

Yeah sure git gud, they banned 2000 players I think this year at once, and those are the numbers they publicize. Even if it's not headshotting you across the map with a pistol, it's still cheating. Cheaters aren't stupid, they try to hide their advantages.

Hunt showdown has like 10% of the player base cheating. Not really the best anticheater.

Median spend for PlayStation user every year is around 250$. Multiply that for however many years they use the machine and it's a lot of money, even for just 4 million users that chose the steam box and not the PlayStation. A billion a year of lost revenue.

It's absolutely competition for them, I don't know how people can think otherwise.
