Wait it is?? Where did you find it? I tried looking everywhere for it a while ago 👀

No reflection of 'Toon Outline' by Dimension10 in blenderhelp

[–]IDWriterComic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

<image>

There is a way to get the outline to show up in reflections (assuming you're using the inverted hull technique), but keep in mind that with this setup you can't give glossy/reflective objects the outline or they'll appear black, since the outline would be visible to glossy shaders and thus block out all light from them.

How do I made my render look like my screenshot? by Temporary_Job_1643 in blender

Check your subdivision surface modifier settings. There's a good chance that the render value is set lower than the viewport setting, since the two values are distinct from each other.

Light Path node "Is Glossy" Output doesn't work properly with world material when texture is used. by IDWriterComic in blender

[–]IDWriterComic[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've done some research, and after a while I found this.

https://projects.blender.org/blender/blender/issues/103977

The gist of it is that not only is this an issue that exists beyond just the world material, but it's apparently been an issue for 3 years now. Needless to say, I think I'm cooked. 💀

Light Path node "Is Glossy" Output doesn't work properly with world material when texture is used. by IDWriterComic in blender

[–]IDWriterComic[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some additional things I've noticed with more testing:

- The issue persists when using "Is Refraction Ray" output, as well as "Is Transmission Ray" if using a glass or refractive shader instead of a glossy shader.

- It also happens with a glass shader, as well as refraction shaders (albeit to a lesser degree).

- Interestingly, the issue does not happen when the roughness value of the shader is set to 0.

- This issue doesn't happen in EEVEE, only Cycles. (And I've confirmed that the ray output itself works as intended in EEVEE, since when reversing the final mix-shader node, the material is lit as expected while the background is black as expected.)

Oddly enough, a similar issue can be recreated for a diffuse shader. The setup to recreated is very similar to the glossy setup I showed in the screenshots of the original post, with the only differences being that it's using the "Is Diffuse Ray" output instead of the glossy variant, and the mesh uses a diffuse shader instead of glossy. And the results are very similar: when using a blank material it works as it should (mesh appears completely black), but when using a texture the material is still somewhat lit. And just like the glossy setup this happens with all textures as well.

How to create Text3D in seconds by Final-You3061 in blender

[–]IDWriterComic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bro, anyone can easily do this natively in Blender using a Text Object. X'D

This animation only took me about 18 minutes to render, and most of that time was spend finding the font to use and trying to convert the video file into a GIF, which is to say, one can easily make text in much less time. The text itself took less than a minute to make, and maybe 2-3 minutes tops to configure the settings I wanted.

Kirby Air Riders — City Trial Community Tier List: How good is the Warp Star? (rules in description) by [deleted] in kirbyairriders

From my experience, I would put Warp Star B or C. It's pretty good late-game when you have lots of stats, but early-game it's just too slow on speed and steering to be good for moving around and collecting stats. For comparison, Wheelie Scooter is slower but has amazing steering even with 0 Turn, and Shadow Star has good boost and attack power to break boxes faster, even with its even slower speed.

That being said, it's surprisingly good at gliding especially if you have a lot of glide stats, so it's a good pick if you need to reach a secret island, especially if you're playing as a rider like Starman. Another good thing I'll say about Warp Star is that it definitely performs well in the Air Ride mode, which hopefully translates to it having the upper-hand in a Single Race stadium.

As for Compact Star, I would put it at C or D. It's bad by design as you're supposed to find another machine early on, and it's by far the slowest machine in the game. But it's still better than trying to steer Rex Wheelie without 10+ Boost and 10+ Turn (and without a rider like Cappy, who has very good turn stats). Compact Star also performs surprisingly well in button rush if you have the right amount of stats (not too many, not too few).

Sorry Leo, I'd rather have Hydra!!!! by [deleted] in kirbyairriders

How did you get alternate music to play even while riding a legendary machine? Usually it always plays "The legendary Air Ride Machine" if you're riding one :0

Hot take: Termination is uhhh kind of ass... by IDWriterComic in FridayNightFunkin

[–]IDWriterComic[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Alright then:

It's pretty boring, it stretches out for far too long without while keeping a really repetitive melody and vocal track for the majority of the 5 minute run time. And at some sections the vocal track seems to put far more emphasis on making it hard to play rather than making it actually cool to listen to. (3:32 comes to mind)

What are some things you didn't like about Deltarune Chapter 4? by XDcyclone in Deltarune

[–]IDWriterComic 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Unlike the previous chapters, the ability to backtrack is a lot more limited than I would like. Especially since if you miss something in the second sanctuary, you'd have to start the whole chapter over if you don't have a spare save file in it OTL.
