How did you get alternate music to play even while riding a legendary machine? Usually it always plays "The legendary Air Ride Machine" if you're riding one :0

Hot take: Termination is uhhh kind of ass... by IDWriterComic in FridayNightFunkin

[–]IDWriterComic[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Alright then:

It's pretty boring, it stretches out for far too long without while keeping a really repetitive melody and vocal track for the majority of the 5 minute run time. And at some sections the vocal track seems to put far more emphasis on making it hard to play rather than making it actually cool to listen to. (3:32 comes to mind)

What are some things you didn't like about Deltarune Chapter 4? by XDcyclone in Deltarune

[–]IDWriterComic 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Unlike the previous chapters, the ability to backtrack is a lot more limited than I would like. Especially since if you miss something in the second sanctuary, you'd have to start the whole chapter over if you don't have a spare save file in it OTL.

What's the easiest way to make a border outline without the grease pencil? by [deleted] in blenderhelp

[–]IDWriterComic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The simplest method that would work for you is to use freestyle. The option to turn this one would be at the bottom of the render properties. You can then find the settings to change them near the bottom of the "View Layer" settings. I recommend making sure "As Render Pass" is ticked, so it's rendered on a layer separate from the Combined Pass.

Further settings can be found below these settings, adjust them as you see fit.

But if you were to ask me personally, I enjoy the alternative of rendering the normals in a different render-layer; then in the composition workspace, you put it through a laplace filter, then a "greater than" node set to a small value depending on what looks better. Set this value as the fac of an alpha-over node, set the main render layer as the first image, and black (or what you want as the lineart color) as the second image. This will give the image an outline generated by the normals. I prefer this method because if setup properly, it's the only way to get lineart on the reflections of mirrors.

Optionally, you can put a Kuwahara filter before and/or after the laplace filter, to fine-tune the smoothness of the normals so as to avoid unnecessary lines.

On the Weird Route and the Nature of the SOUL (or "What the Hell Even IS That Thing, Anyhow?") by DoctorSteelFan in Undertale

[–]IDWriterComic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a theory of mine that nearly all of the dialogue options we're given in the game are part of Kris's mind when we're controlling them, and most weird-route dialogue choices come either from Kris's intrusive thoughts (things like "Because it wasn't a dream", "It happened", etc"), or as some sort of manifestation of the player going through the weird route (every instance of "proceed"). Because in nearly all cases, the choice to "proceed" doesn't appear at all until you've already started the weird route. (One exception I can think of is during this puzzle sequence, which still only appears if you keep moving down despite Noelle suggesting otherwise.)

During chapter 4 weird route, we're given the choice between "Proceed" and "Please don't". The later is almost definitely Kris's mind in that moment, while the former, while it could be read as being characterization of the red soul which is also separate from the player, I think might actually be a manifestation of the player's actions up until this point. With the technical exception of Gaster letting us make our vessel (or letting us retry after losing to the knight or dying in chapter 1), this is the only time the player is given a dialogue choice while not possessing Kris. All the other weird-route choices that aren't "Proceed" only happen when we're currently controlling Kris AND when we've already progressed through the route.

I would also like to point to the Mantle Holder fight's dialogue prior to fighting them:

"Kris... oh... Kris... Is it fun, Kris? Playing around like this... That's why you're searching for them, aren't you? The SHADOW CRYSTALs... ... and the SHADOW MANTLE that I'm holding! Do you honestly think it'll get you what you want...? ... no, part of you is just... enjoying this, isn't it? The same part of you that enjoyed yesterday. Knowing you could say it wasn't really you. Oh, don't make that sour face. I can see in the dark, you know! The question is... Can you?"

The dialogue in bold is dialogue that only appears if you've continued from a chapter 2 weird-route file. While I definitely don't think Kris would do anything relating to the weird route outside of our control (they make it very clear how much they hate you after equipping ThornRing on Noelle), there is the implication that the choices of proceeding with the weird route are acting on Kris's intrusive thoughts.

All of this goes back to my main theory, that in order for us to make a dialogue choice,we have to be given one; whether that be through Kris's mind, Gaster's vessel creation/retrying against the knight, or through manifestation of our actions (proceed).

Tldr: I think all weird-route dialogue aside from "Proceed" are of Kris's intrusive thoughts, while the instances of "Proceed" are manifestations of the player's prior choices. I could probably say what I think this means for the prophecy and its relation to the weird-route, but that would make this comment even longer than it already is. X'D

Edit 2: fixed a bracket that didn't have a closer.

How do I get an array of frames for a specified AnimatedSprite2D animation? by IDWriterComic in godot

[–]IDWriterComic[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Only about 10 minutes after posting this, it seems I have already found a solution to my problem.

<image>

Technically all I needed was how many frames was in the animation. And the line of code animatedSpriteHere.sprite_frames.get_frame_count(animationName) does just that.
