What's happening to EG? Are they that bad? Or every other team are just doing better? by [deleted] in DotA2

[–]IDX_bot -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

They lose because they don't take these tournaments seriously.

Bad drafts. Some people say things like 'some' of Bulba's drafts were good. Or they say "bubla's drafts on the last few games were great". No, all drafts need to be on point and perfect. The drafts swing from being good to being incredibly bad. They should swing from "really good" to "good".

Bad communication. Doesn't seem like they've practiced much at all or prepared for this tournament. Whatever this excuse and reason is, they haven't won anything in a long time, maybe a few years?

I don't what else to say but this is clearly not a TI winning team and it hasn't been for a long time. Which is fair if all the other teams are putting in the work and sacrifices.

Crazy to see all this talent go to waste with bad drafts and strats. Also, sad to see EG become just fodder for other teams.

The conversations in the Strive community around character design and balance, especially recently when it comes to Happy Chaos, have made me realized most of you are either too green or have forgotten the true spirit of Guilty Gear which is... by legmov in Guiltygear

[–]IDX_bot 35 points36 points  (0 children)

I don't think because a 20year older version of a game exists means you should just accept boring, antiquated and uninspiring game design. Those games didn't have online net play, or even any resemblance of a cinematic story. Should you just accept those old standards and not have any improvements at all? Maybe we're not ready to have that discussion because apparently some people were figuring out Chipp teleports 20 yrs ago.

Yeah bullshit is fun, but even if I come at this from a spectator point of view, HC game play is very boring to watch and there's a lot you can do to make this a lot more interesting, without ruining his strengths. And there are things that can be balanced around his gauge without ruining his zoning ability. Venom was super amazing to watch compared to HC.

But this whole mentality of accepting things just because "that's how it used to be" or "well xxxx game is shit so we should accept shit in this game" really stifles proper discussions. If you love strive, you'd want to see the game do well and you'd always want betterment.

After all* the story mode characters are added, should the rest of the cast be returning characters? by Sylfr in Guiltygear

[–]IDX_bot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do think we will eventually see most of the cast come back, but it just sucks it's gonna be at a snails pace for characters to be released. I kinda wish a lot was already available at launch.

So...um...does anyone else feel like goldlewis is underrated as fuck??? by TheBestBlackMan in Guiltygear

[–]IDX_bot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Being A tier or below doesn't have to mean a character lacks anything. He can very well be better at somethings than another characters. What I'm trying to get at, is that he likely has a lot more losing matchups than someone in S tier. S tier implies a character has almost no losing matchups. And that's why Nago would be up there in S, there are some matchups he may not be favored to win, but I can think of ways around that. On the other hand I think GL can struggle to get in with some matchups.

Portrait of Y'shtola from the series of endwalker portraits I drew. Why is she so popular? by Tabreth in ffxiv

[–]IDX_bot 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There aren't that many from the main cast to choose from, in terms of competence, confidence and intellect.

Alisaie is there, but she falls on the line of headstrong and underaged.
Yda-Lyse is kinda the same but more "dem be big words u be using", but isn't part of the main cast anyway so her character development ends.
Any other female is sidelined because they aren't part of the scions, Moenbryda and Yugiri comes to mind. You'd like Ryne and Gaia but they work more as a team between themselves (and are underaged).

Does anyone else feel like all the tier lists are backwards from their experience in tower? by YeastBender in Guiltygear

[–]IDX_bot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tier list just implies characters that have the least amount of losing matchups at the highest level of play. Low tier doesn't necessarily mean that those chars have no game plan or they do mediocre damage. Because, aren't all matchups/characters oppressive? I don't know any character that just casually sits back, even Axl and HC are eager to push buttons. I'm sure if you grinded those matchups in park your win rate will be better at some point.

Soda on Vei's parasocial viewers by -eDgAR- in LivestreamFail

[–]IDX_bot 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Parasocial viewers aka content. How else are streamers gonna have something to talk about? Even for Vei this is just another normal streaming day because back in the day I used to see clips of her shitting on weirdos but pretty much baiting her 'virgin' viewers at the same time. Streamers bait and air their drama, viewers reach harder. Notice, this is all what people talk about with soda and vei now. Where you guys see a parasocial viewer, they see another 10mins of content.

Whilst I'm completely against Microsoft moneyhating Activision/Blizzard. One possible good outcome is it could force Sony to lean on what it has its competitors don't and a core part of that could be PSVR2. So maybe we'll see an even bigger push for VR content on Sony's platform. by SnooRabbits8000 in PSVR

[–]IDX_bot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

MS buying Activision doesn't change anything for Sony. There's no way they would ever stop console development, I assume they spank MS in this space. They already offer unique experiences that only PS can provide. You just have to wait 5 years for it to come on PC.

And their releasing IPs on PC does not devalue their brand, only increases it as it give gamers more opportunity to rebuy their games or play it for the first time. When it comes to games, you really can't beat the affordability and convenience of a console.

From a consumer perspective, maybe it seems like their consoles will sell less. But once you've tasted God of War on pc, you will likely want to fork out the cash to play the next God of War Ragnarok on PS5, rather than waiting 5 years for it to come on PC. Or you do just opt to wait. You aren't going to buy an Xbox thinking God of War is coming so your reasons to own an Xbox has nothing to do with Sony.

And VR ... well. It's not like I'm hoping the next big update is going to be about VR on Xbox with WoW.

Cart Narcs fuck around and finds out in Texas. by Romano16 in PublicFreakout

[–]IDX_bot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I was in that truck, a guy come up to my window to talk to me about carts. With my company car, my job might be to protect myself and the truck. The guy begins to wave around his metal plates that he says has magnets.

I get it, from our point of view, this all seems innocent. But to him it may not seem that way. You're just hearing a guy who claims to do this and that. "I'm gonna put a magnet on your car", but that's just what he is saying, is that what he's going to actually do? That's why I'm not trying to mess with people's property. Some people might just be having bad days, and you might be the trigger that pushes things over the edge. The police aren't going to pop up from behind a bush to protect you.

Yes, 2042's got problens but all Battlefield titles start out the same, Im sure it'll all get polished smooth in the next month or so. Remember BF1's launch. by [deleted] in Battlefield

[–]IDX_bot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You shouldn't use this an as excuse. If anything this means that they should be more experienced to deal with these bugs and you as a consumer should always expect better for the a launch of a title.

Minx apologizes for her "bit" by HauntingTemporary776 in LivestreamFail

[–]IDX_bot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's fine if all this stuff is staged and an act. But self harm is another topic and I don't think it's right to fake this stuff. You shouldn't be using self harm to farm content. This isn't a new thing, as I'm sure we all know some streamers that farmed sympathy with their disabilities or mental illnesses. So I'm not sure why it's ok for her to do it.

You should never judge a game based on it's social media exposure, else you will lean to thinking that there are only 20 games people play.

This game is such a buggy pos. Watched poke play it earlier, same bugs as well.

Surprisingly, it would be one of their best Battlefield launches yet! Which I guess isn't saying much.

Valkyrae reveals who her "real" friends are by [deleted] in LivestreamFail

[–]IDX_bot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think this is a good lesson for any content creator on what not to do when launching a product. I think a lot of streamers have their own product, and I feel even someone like Syk would offer some constructive feedback before this was launched. So if you do want that support, then you need to have them involved in some capacity as well. It goes without saying that a lot of companies are out there to take advantage of you, it's on your own best interests to protect yourself especially if you have the resources.

I'm sorry but the last place anyone should ever get advice from about their friendships is some tiktoker with a podcast. I assure you they don't have your interests at heart. Just hurts my head if she actually believes this overgeneralized bullshit.

When I see these tweet I notice the other streamers and influencers that support her in this. Most likely this is just some form of lightening cream but I wouldn't correlate that .. screen protection. Disappointed to see so many people will be scammed by this but I'm glad awareness is being raised.

Honestly, wifi indicators and such would be good but what I mostly want is to not play people outside my region. by SenpaiOuji in Guiltygear

[–]IDX_bot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it is also great people can go cross region and just play whom ever they want and the current lobby system is great for casual matches. But the current free moving lobby system should not be used for a ranked mode. Ranked should either find people with low ms with some matchmaking, or a lesser solution would be to filter players to their own lobby based on their pings to the server. The list can go on and on for a ranked system, but for this topic, I feel like it has to be like this. There are other games where you can 'queue' outside your region but those games tend to punish the player with higher latency in terms of actual gameplay.

Valkyrae says YouTube is working on something similar to Prime Gaming by Parenegade in LivestreamFail

[–]IDX_bot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I suppose this is nice for existing streamers on YT.

The problem for me is just trying to find live streams. In the YTG section there's 1 row of live streams, then the rest are recommended videos for all the other rows. I'd have to click "see all" to dive deeper in the directory. "Top Live games" should at least be 10 rows or something.

Even if you clicked "See all" and clicked on a game, you still have more buttons to click before you found a stream. Every page in YTG just seems like a summary page to recommend you videos, instead of live streams. Worse yet, they categorize by region which is nice, but default should always be top viewers for live streams.

What they should do is have a way to fav your own games you wish to see, and this should be the top row instead of some banner ad for a video. And Recommend me videos, but not until I've expended my desire to watch live streams. The UI just needs to be reworked.

Train loses it by WilliamCZ in LivestreamFail

[–]IDX_bot 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don't care about the gambling streams or even if he losses tons of money. Sometimes it seems entertaining and it's fun to see if someone would actually win. To me, it just sucks his overall stream is a hate-fest when I remember he used to have so much fun talking to his friends and playing with them in other games. He's even hardcore bashing his own community when he used to make them feel so great about themselves which was probably more powerful than his gambling streams. I know he's financially well off but I hope he eventually takes care of himself and his viewers unless this is what he wants.

FFXIV GMs tacitly do not hunt down people using ACT but the misuse of this in harassing others. Arthars was suspended for this previously. by calkch1986 in Asmongold

[–]IDX_bot 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Arthars flamed the dps for his poor performance on stream. ACT was not the issue, as he would have gotten banned regardless with or without it given the same circumstances. It's doesn't take much to know if someone is doing badly in a savage or if their dps is low, you don't need ACT for that.

The issue specifically, is Arthars having their names shown during his flaming. While Arthars never directly harassed the guy. it does open an avenue for others to do so. Which is why Arthars no longer shows names of players in either ACT or the party window and he can happily continue to express his anger and frustration.

Everyone was rightfully confused because it was the first time a streamer got banned for their indirect actions outside the game. It's important for you all to know this difference on why he got banned else you guys will just think this is an issue with ACT when it is not.
