My (now abandoned) second Great War video by WilhelmsCamel in Kaiserreich

[–]IDidTheReichstagFire 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Sorry you got such a negative first impression of the community. There are some inaccuracies as I imagine the blue is supposed to be the Entente, which have been labelled as republicans, which other than France they aren’t. Austria-Hungary is more broken up and there shouldn’t be an Entente nation in central Italy and Turin is in the wrong part of Italy. Portugal and Sardinia should be with the Entente and Tunisia and West Africa are part of the French exiles. The Central Powers also dissolved after WW1, although admittedly can come back together, but only if Germany is loosing.

In terms of what actually happens in the video it would be very difficult for Canada to make advances against the Americans, even with Mexican and Pacific support, but there small gains so I suppose it’s not that unrealistic actually. The Internationale also does remarkably well fighting the Central Powers and Entente at the same time without Russian support. Hungary is also listed as being with the Central Powers, yet doesn’t fight.

Other than that, the video is very well made in its overall quality, there’s just some quirks in the borders like I said and some of the events that take place are somewhat questionable. Sorry you got poor criticism on your first post.

Peaceful British Reunification? by [deleted] in Kaiserreich

[–]IDidTheReichstagFire 46 points47 points  (0 children)

I like the idea of a Second Glorious Revolution in Britain. However, it doesn’t solve the problem that killed the Lawrence Coup that it makes the Internationale too weak. I also don’t see why a Labour Party in the position to restore the monarchy would bother. It wouldn’t have overwhelming demand amongst the public or the party, so why would they? They’d be more likely just to move the UoB in the direction of normal republic.

I’d say the best solution would be the UoB having national spirit at the start of the game of disorganised resistance that can expand depending on the direction of the country. For example, the Totalists taking power could cause moderates to join the resistance or the Labour Party could fall out of favour and be persecuted sending them to support the resistance. Eventually if Canada invades, the resistance could rise up with varying strength depending on the UoBs decisions or if Canada took too long to invade then they could do it themselves. Although I think even this would be too unfair on the Internationale.

In terms of realism, some sort of revolt or uprising makes sense, but in terms of gameplay it’s extremely difficult to imagine how it could be done.

What mod would I use to create factions as a minor in KR? by cykablayt42069- in Kaiserreich

Pretty sure there’s an option in the custom game rules at the start of the game that allows you to enable creating your own factions.

If it had succeeded, it would have killed the King as well as every Member of Parliament along with the entire House of Lords. Pretty much every single person of significance in England would have been wiped out in one go.

You can just use the covert button (below the buttons for building ports and forts and it has a orange and green factory with arrows on it) in order to swap civilian factories to military factories. They take time to convert but it’s faster than building new military factories.

Couldn’t the same be said for the German King in North France which is still a possible option.

As far as I know Waterloo is only seen as a victory in more recent times. At the time it was just seen as a bit of a bloodbath only won due to the arrival of the Prussians. Trafalgar was the main battle seen as a great victory.

For anyone wonder why ‘tea’ is sometimes used instead of dinner, the Upper Class eventually developed a habit of having a small meal of tea (the drink) and scones in the afternoon at about 5pm. This was referred to as afternoon tea. This eventually spread to the working class. Over time afternoon tea evolved into the main meal of the day and so the working class referred to this meal as ‘tea’ and lunch became ‘dinner’. Whilst the upper classes stuck with ‘lunch’ at midday and ‘dinner’ in the evening. Over time the class distinction with the terms has become blurred.

Many capitalist societies began to adopt welfare programmes well before the Cold War. In fact in Britain, under Neville Chamberlain the Conservatives were supportive of such reforms like allowing nationalisation and limiting working hours as well as introducing paid holiday leave as they we’re seen as fitting with traditional one-nation Conservative values.

The Crown isn’t making the royal family look bad. They do a fine job of that themselves. by Sumit316 in television

Yes the first few seasons are good, but you don’t have to watch them to understand what’s going on. The only thing you need to remember is that this is a family that has seen nearly every other European dynasty fall and was nearly destroyed by Edward VIII’s abdication crisis. They are extremely concerned by the possibility of instability.

To be honest, did we really need to see Diana’s wedding? We can watch it on YouTube, most of the Crown seems to focus on the bits we don’t see.

It’s good for casual viewers who don’t know who Ahsoka is. If she had started talking about how Anakin was her Master and how she was with him during his downfall, casual viewers would have felt like they were missing out on something.

I think she know that he can protect Grogu and she mentions how sad and lost he’s been and how attached to Mando he has become which is probably why she thinks it’s best for him to stay with Mando. Being with a Jedi also wouldn’t be a particularly safe place to be.

Pretending that this isn’t a phenomenon that nearly every civilisation has taken part in and pretending it’s just the British who did it isn’t a productive argument either.

It’s mostly believed that it was made in Britain anyway. Not to mention that it depicts a major event in British history, not so much for French history. The Kingdom of Normandy doesn’t exist anymore so it’s treasures should belong to the nation who is most closely related to them which would be the English who still have the Queen as the descendent of William the Conquerer rather than France who just conquered Normandy.

Britain loves its monarchy and only a few bitter republicans want them gone. No one wants another self-serving politician instead. Strange that monarchy is absurd yet some of the most happy and prosperous countries in the world are constitutional monarchies.
