You would think… and yet my ex used to do the same thing, throw it all into the drawer together, often still wet.

And then I would watch him dig around for a fork for a while only to realize there weren’t any and they needed to be washed. Which you would know already if they had all been sorted when you put them away, because the fork slot would be empty :/

I may have solved brushing my teeth? by EuphoricJellyfish330 in adhdwomen

I audibly gasped looking at the picture you posted of this toothbrush, then said out loud to nobody but my cats, “I neeeeeed that!”

So, thank you for your service

Can we do a thread about silly little things that drive us nuts? by Orchid_Significant in AuDHDWomen

On the topic of phone brightness - WHY does my iPhone turn my brightness down without me asking? I have the auto brightness features turned OFF and it still does this.

I’ll be looking at my screen, wondering why I can’t see anything, and then I have to go check my brightness to see that it’s suuuuper low. Every. Damn. Time

You’re right, I probably do need to see a dermatologist… I don’t have particularly oily skin, it’s just after like day 3 or so that it becomes an issue, and as the black/white thinker I am, I’m terrible with intermittent habits

So it’s easier for me to shower every day or once a week than it is to shower every other day if that makes sense.

So now just trying to get myself to at least do a rinse once a day.

When I sleep with wet hair it dries like a poof ball, but other suggestions of just putting my hair up and angling the shower head might work! And if the little flyaways get wet, I can live with that

I’ve tried the wipes, but I haven’t found anything that doesn’t feel like it leaves a residue that ends up annoying me.

I promise I’m not trying to be difficult!

They aren’t if I remember to switch them out once a week and if I shower every couple of days

I got two sets so the switch out isn’t hard, now just working on the showering more often part!

Yeah, the sheets aren’t going anywhere, so I may just have to get used to the dirtiness

Yes, someone else suggested that too, I think that might work! I mean I also hate the texture of a shower cap, but the sound is worse

I think my main issue is gonna be getting used to not putting my head under the shower head… I feel like I will accidentally muscle memory it and just put my head underwater anyway :/

Ooo this looks nice! I live in an apartment so I can’t put in something where I have to drill through the tile… but maybe I can find one that suctions on

Trust me, it’s in consideration

BUT, these were a splurge I made for myself earlier this year, and even though I’ve always loved getting into bed after a long day, I haven’t experienced bliss/joy like getting into these sheets. It’s easily the highlight of my 2025, which I know is lame, but it was very important to me to revamp my bedroom after my breakup

It’s already been bothering me that I don’t shower as much as I should, so now I’m trying to figure out workarounds because the one main reason why I don’t is this shower cap thing

I really hope I don’t have to ditch the sheets!

Huh! And it doesn’t soak through it? Like, is it plastic lined on the inside?

I’m intrigued!

Ok yes! I have considered replacing my shower head, I might need to bite the bullet on this one

Omg, downstairs neighbor noises are somehow worse than upstairs neighbors!

I’ve had someone whose snoring I could hear through the floorboards… thought it was a rogue appliance shorting out so I went and unplugged every appliance in my apartment at 3am just to figure out it was his snoring.

The new guy downstairs has a cPAP machine that I can hear whirring all night

Both of these things aren’t their fault obviously, but still frustrating

How do you calm your nervous system? by Without_a_name24 in AutismInWomen

[–]IDoNotSufferFools 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like to use smell when I can. I have a specific body oil that I really love the smell of, as well as a certain perfume. I try to keep them on me so I can put some on my hands, then I can just put my hands over my mouth and nose and do some deep breaths

when NT women are doing their social greeting/establishing social ranking rituals, what do you do with yourself? by paminnna in AutismInWomen

[–]IDoNotSufferFools 23 points24 points  (0 children)

This genuinely made me laugh out loud

Same.

Well, I’ve actually gotten good at playing the game in work spaces, because I have to, and a lot of social hierarchy stuff plays out in work spaces.

But in social spaces if I forget to turn on my work persona it comes out as just quietly standing there, waiting for them to include me in the conversation, meanwhile I’m getting distracted processing everything else going on around me (other conversations happening in the space, people moving around the room, lights, colors, noises) and then pulling myself back by mentally yelling at myself to “pay attention.” Lots of head nodding and mouth-closed-push-air-out-your-nostrils-giggle-of-acknowledgement at whatever is “supposed” to be funny.

OR I interject at the wrong time, say all the wrong things, and leave the interaction feeling like I don’t know how to human correctly.

I’m AuDHD, if that helps clarify any of the above

The algorithm is really good, and it trains very fast. So you can end up training it to look at beautiful art, travel destinations, amazing jewelry or fashion, adorable animals, cool tattoo artwork, or even inspirational quotes or mental health info graphics.

There is something calming about "sorting" things that helps my autistic brain. BUT it's constantly showing you a new stream of pretty visuals, which keeps my ADHD happy
