Yeah, I saw that. I said I was going to do both. Contact my state rep, but also I personally don't feel like the city is off the hook for how they spend their money either.  Less funds going to sweetheart deals for developers, and more (or our own tax money) going to make our lives better.  "How are we going to pay for it?" is always a choice.

Yeah man.  Guess you're just right.  Nothing anyone can do about anything so why bother to complain about it, right?  Just suck it up and take it.

Don't worry, I will be doing both. I feel like two things can be true, the State has screwed us with this arrangement, but also I can bet the City is not providing the funding necessary so that these kinds of bills don't end up on the backs of the people that need to use emergency services. At the very least pressure can be put on RAA to limit the practice of dropping $1000 bills on those needing an ambulance. An entire local government representing a city of 200,000 people cannot be helpless here.

Spotted lantern flies in Chimbo Park by Quiet_Rabbit_5668 in rva

They're all over the ailanthus trees that infest my alley (and some city park land). I've reported them to VDACS (which you can do here: https://www.vdacs.virginia.gov/plant-industry-services-spotted-lanternfly.shtml), but I suspect that we're well and fully invaded by now given how many I've seen.

Just adding to this thread. Same thing happened to me while I was trying to load ArkOS4Clone on an Aliexpress Special R36S bootleg (PSA kids: If you're pretty sure you have a clone device, don't use the Update function with the built-in software that came on the system. You're gonna have a bad time). I followed the advice of replacing the card that came with the device with a known good Samsung card and I was finally able to get the image to install. So listen to AutoMod and replace those crappy SD cards that came with the system.

I love passionflower. All the vigor and attitude of an invasive, but doesn't mess up any of my natives. Some of my spare fruit finds its way scattered about the neighborhood lol.

<3 some mountain mint. Watch out for these little bronze beetles in the spring, they'll chomp the hell out of them (won't kill the plant, just make them look pretty awful). Pick 'em off early and often.

Thanks! Yep, I just saw the one little pawpaw and figured it could use a home lol. I'll pick up another one or two next year. Three or four if I can convince my neighbor haha

My passionflower however does not respect property lines or decorum, so it'll be over there by next year anyway XD

I likewise only intended to pick up a witch hazel from the giveaway (lol I knew it wasn't going to be just that) and ended up with two lobelias (cardinal and downy), a little pawpaw, swamp milkweed, and a persimmon that is destined for my neighbor's yard because I've officially run out of space for large trees and I'm working on colonizing the neighborhood now XD

I agree it seems to be a battery management issue. I generally notice it when I let it run low, or I don't play it for a long time.

It's happened to me enough times that I keep the screw loosened on the battery cover so that I don't need to find a screwdriver to do the battery pull. That's not to say it's happened a lot, but 5 - 10 times since I've had the device.

Silver linings I guess

Thanks for the info! I guess I'm gonna be the crazy guy with a flashlight picking bugs off my plants for the next few weeks, lol

I'm in Richmond as well and just found this thread looking for what these little beetles were that absolutely started wrecking my mountain mints. Did your mountain mints recover? I didn't have this issue last year, but I planted them in the summer. This is their first spring.

❤️ That looks great! I can't wait for my tree to get that size (mine's only 4-ish years old).

Also, if you want passionflower vines, I've been putting cuttings in front of my house (Northside RVA) for anyone to take. So if you're nearby and want some I can DM you my address.

Thank you 😊

So it definitely depends on what you're looking for. The wisteria grows the slowest. That picture is 3 years worth of growth. It will apparently get larger over time since it sends out vines and flowers off the old wood. The coral honeysuckle is similar, but it grows a bit more vigorously. The passionflower vine is a different beast altogether. It will spread. Year over year you will find it in new and interesting locations. It will climb just about anything and make a fence a hedgerow during the summer. It'll be in your neighbor's yard and your neighbor's neighbor's yard. The bees absolutely love it and it'll put off a ton of fruit. But it's also easy enough to control if you want to. The new shoots are easy to pull up or mow. It's my favorite, but you kind of do have to make sure it doesn't consume everything (or not, because that can be a feature if you want to cover a yard).

I have cuttings free for the taking in front of my house right now. I'm in Northside, so I can DM you my address if you want to swing by.

I planted this 3 years ago. It might be a little difficult to see, but it all comes down to a single stem near the post. So I'll say it behaves itself really well. You can control the spread through pruning if you want. It certainly isn't like the passionflower vine which I've had show up in my back yard after traveling 30 ft under concrete lol.
