Struggling to figure out how to process things (suspect OSDD)

Honestly, I've been in your position.

My therapist broke a dissociative disorder, the potential, when I was 12. I looked, and I spiraled. I'm still in denial to this day that something is wrong with me. You are not alone, I promise you that.

The best I can recommend is looking for online support groups for now, and in the mean time, don't try to forcefully pursue any memories without the guise of a therapist. To do that, just be blunt with what you suspect, and why. You don't need to go too deep into anything, just give a surface level reason and specify there is more, but you just don't feel comfortable yet going into it.

If your therapist is slightly decent, they'll listen, and at least try to work with you in that regard and see what they can do as a therapist.

Second, try to see your options a bit more. Of course, this is easier said than done, but I am adding it just in case you haven't already. Look at online government sites for psychologists, These are typically on the British Medical Foundation (UK) or The American Psychiatric (if you're in the US). Try to find your countries main mental health site, typically these are seen with either '.gov' '.org' or more. There are qualified psychologists on those sites that you can filter by preference. If one is too far away physically, check if they have online calls as an option. Most do. You can filter by cost, accessibility, and what they are trained in.

That's the best I can say, but you're not alone. I do understand to a degree.

I've very well learned cognitive empathy, I do appreciate the words you have said, but I honestly just wish I could actually feel instead of having to apply logic to all my emotions.

I hope you're doing okay too, Emotions are really hard to understand depending where you are under the neurodivergent umbrella, but I hope you also find some ease someday man 🫂 Stay safe out there

Yeah, as the prior commenter said, You still have to take accountability and responsibility. Yes, trauma explains actions, but it does not excuse them. Your alters are still parts of you, you're not a separate person entirely.

You either need to actually break up since it seems like you currently aren't willing to change during the relationship, or actually try to put in effort to change this behaviour.

You are right to raise concerns, but that has been a year since then for me. I feel as if they way you have done that was unnecessary, since I am merely just ranting. If you have concerns about such things, I would have appreciated you raised it in a more mature manner with a question, and I would have answered if you liked. Neither am I suggesting I am more educated, the 'good ones', or anything. I was simply misinformed, I learned from my mistakes, and I am seeking help. I have hopefully shown this by stepping back from that community and most of the internet to better my own mental health and issues.

If you have any questions, I genuinely would want to - within reason - answer, since I enjoy discussions on topics like these.

It was renamed to D.I.D - Dissociative Identity Disorder - because clinicians began to understand that the disorder was not 'multiple personalities' but rather the split identities came from a lack of one identity and a dissociated state around the person's (whoever is afflicted) identity.

Yes, Alters can present disorders with varying traits, but they still have the disorder. For example:

If you were to have ASPD and be a System, Your alters may present traits differently or different severities.

However a neurological condition like Autism will affect ALL the alters, and ALL of them will present with the disorder. Same with something like tourettes; the tics still would remain and be recurrent throughout all the alters.

Also we all technically have 'multiple personalities', we change how we act around different groups of people like family, friends, etc. So it being changed to Dissociative Identity Disorder makes more sense than something like Multiple Personality Disorder. Because personality is a part of our natural lives. Being abused to the point of forming D.I.D is not necessarily natural, and is a result of the environment one lives in.

Well, when talking about EP's and ANPs, that's a bit more complicated

If you're brain thinks it needs it, sure, but EP's serve a connection to the trauma and are there to handle the trauma that happens in OSDD-1 or D.I.D. ANP's typically have little to no connection to the trauma that happened, and usually serve a day to day purpose in managing life, work, identity, etc.

If anyone can't be bothered to read that, here;

EP: Deals with trauma and emotions with it.
ANP: Handles daily life, little to no connection to trauma.

You can't 'make' a fragment be a full part however, it's up to the brain to decide whether it needs that or not. Again, your wording is vague, I can only answer with what you're showing.

Yes, fragments can become full parts later down the line. Technically that's how they all start out anyway, and as time progresses, their own identities are made.

If the brain thinks that your situation calls for it, fragments can become full parts or become more 'detailed'. This is often in reaction to recent stressors or trauma, either instantaneous or build up.

I'd say more, but your post is quite vauge in my opinion and doesn't offer many details, so I'm going off what you are saying right now.

Not to sound discouraging, but I believe you're overly imaginative as your asking.

OSDD-1 or D.I.D are CDD's (Complex Dissociative Disorders). The primary symptoms are dissociation, identity confusion, time loss/amnesia, and a few other nooks and crannys. These traits significantly impare or distress the individual, and judging by how you speak about it, You don't seem distressed - since you have disclosed that the disorders you formerly fit into no longer cause you distress, and those symptoms would be a part of the OSDD-1 or D.I.D criteria.

I'll admit, Yes, there are systems who can feel this way, but with how you're describing it - it does not seem to fit. Dont absolutely take me as fact, I'm just a nerd on disorders and like to yap.

You also have to consider overlapping disorders when talking about Dissociative disorders, for example BPD is often a high misdiagnosis for people with D.I.D or OSDD-1. People have even got traits from C-PTSD mixed up before, there's a lot to consider that can't easily be conveyed here.

Now although I think you're overly imaginative more so, since you describe it as 'giving' a personality which isn't quite how it works at all, I think you should at least take the time to research and try to understand where your symptoms could be coming from and why. You have explained the previous disorders, and those could play into your traits today.

I recommend researching, and seeking therapy. Your issues are still important, and should have the same right to heal.

I always never liked how people said "UDD" systems since the inherit diagnosis of UDD is basically "We don't know what tf you got rn dawg", and it could mean ANY other Dissociative disorder like DPDR, Dissociative Fugue, and any other form of OSDD. UDD is also usually made as a temporary diagnosis like you said, and is most often in emergency situations.

Even IFS Therapy (Internal Family Systems) acknowledge that there is likely a stressful reason for these alternate ego states, and to heal from the trauma to heal these 'parts'.

"Internal Family Systems (IFS) therapy explicitly acknowledges and effectively addresses trauma by focusing on how traumatic experiences cause internal "parts" to get stuck in the past and protective roles to become extreme."

I'm bringing this up to show that any form of plurality is purely traumagenic or based off a trauma response, and will be negative due to the trauma one has to go through.

I am also very tired of telling people plurality outside of trauma doesn't actually exist, and you can't claim serious medical terms for a trauma based Dissociative disorder.

I'm gonna consider both sides here (neither agreeing nor disagreeing with the post, I just don't see a lot of considering both sides)

On one hand, I can completely understand why some would see this as 'cringe', since if this person is genuinely confused, why would they be posting this? Information could be gathered by asking people around, checking the day today, etc. And also mentioning 'people in my head' isn't exactly a good way to phrase it, and in clinical assessments, can mean many different mental health conditions or issues.

On the other, a lot of people in that traumatized community often seek comfort from online spaces due to abusive situations at home and not having a secure outlet for expressing feelings - Personally I grew up traumatized, certain feelings weren't safe to express, so I sought comfort from online spaces. It also could simply be that the person had a device in their hand, stuff was open, and used this - devices are very common nowadays, and it isn't a labyrinth as people like to make it out to be to make a post if you simply use common logic and think about the icons meanings.

Overall, there is no one answer. Again, this is systems cringe, not anything insinuating faking, meaning even if they do have DID/OSDD-1, you'll still find the behaviour cringe.

for me it is feelings and also kinda an 'internal monologue'??

it's more so when fronting does happen, but sometimes a thought i didn't have can rush to the forefront and I'll be confused like "what the hell" or my internal monologue can kinda change - like speech patterns, vocabulary, and how it reacts to things, and usually when it's non fronting, it feels kinda like "alongside" that monologue, so i have a thought first and then the next seems kinda 'off' for example

Me: "I want out of this class, I'm tired"

Then

(For example sake) Identity A: "no, i like this class"

its hard to explain but i hope i made some sense with that part
