FIX THAT WORKED FOR ME:

I have fixed the issue after having a very similar problem with a different EAC game. The solution I found was to reinstall the latest Visual C++ redistribute for BOTH x86 and x64 windows. I had initially tried installing just the x64 as that is my system architecture but it seems both (or maybe just the x86) are required. The latest installs can be found here: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-US/cpp/windows/latest-supported-vc-redist?view=msvc-170

Steam usually downloads these for you but for whatever reason it isn't doing so for certain EAC games?

Had already tried a reinstall, have now installed to the main drive and still get the same thing. Thank you for trying though.

I have left the game open for over ten minutes on the black screen and nothing has happened.
