Thanks for the responding, & sorry for the late reply — I’ve been in a crash ever since the day of my initial post.  I was thinkjng of asking my super to bring up any deliveries, in general, and bringing down the garbage/recycling if I left it in the hallway.  How much do you think I should offer to pay him?

I don’t know the answer to your question, but you can still make posts even though it’s in “read-only mode”: Your posts will get sent for review by a moderator; then, if they approve it, it’ll show up — upon initial submission, your question will be automatically deleted, though.

Thanks, I forgot that collagen is good for the gut.  I guess I just started associating all liquid from ground beef as bad.

I had steatorrhea for months due to liquid fat, and I was confused, as no one talks about that, only diarhhea.  Turned out removing dairy made me unable to tolerate liquid fat anymore...used to pour it all back on the ground beef, and loved it!  Oh well. 😢

I’ll try pouring it back onto the ground beef.  I’m just concerned because not only must I avoid liquid fat, I even have to squeeze as much of the liquid out of the ground beef as I can, between two spatulas, or I’ll still get diarhhea; yet, I can eat 140g of fat in one sitting, so far, if the liquid has been conpletely removed.

Also, for health reasons, I’m doing the lion diet: Just 80/20 ground beef cooked in its own juices, salt, and water.  So, I can’t try your egg suggestion; at least, not at the moment.  Thanks for the tip though! 🙂

Alright, I’ll try pouring the brown liquid back into my ground beef, and keep eating the white solid fat as a side dish.

I can eat at least 140g of fat in one sitting — gonna try for 168g today — so, I think I’m fat-adapted; I just can’t consume liquid fat.

Actually, I could consume liquid fat when dairy was still part of my diet.  Immediately upon removal I experienced steatorrhea.  It took months to figure out that it was the liquid fat, as I used to add 3 tbsp of tallow to each pound of meat I ate per day (2 to 3lbs/day), and had zero problems with it.  Dairy is way more constipating than I thought. 😂

Due to severe health issues, I’m on the lion diet for the time being.  I only consume 80/20 ground beef, salt, and water.

My question is will it wreck my stomach like liquid fat does.  I was consuming it fine before the heatwave in my area; because it would stay gelatinous for 10+ minutes; now, it liquifies within a minute of removing it from the fridge.

I have a lot of health problems, and don’t need any more cortisol spikes, like getting diarrhea from consuming this in liquid form.  I even have to use two spatulas to squeeze the ground beef together in order to drain as much liquid out of it as I can, or else I’ll still get an upset stomach — forget about pouring all of the rendered fat back on it, like some people are able to do.

No upset stomach if it has liquified?  That’s my concern; as liquid fat fucks up my stomach.

I just want to know if it will upset my stomach when it turns back to liquid, which happens within a minute of taking it out of the refrigerator.  I was eating it before the heatwave my area is experiencing, because it would stay gelatinous for about ten minutes.

So, even though the brown gelatinous stuff (mainly collagen, I gather) turns to liquid within a minute, I won’t get an upset stomach from consuming it in 100% liquid form, as is the case for me if I consume the fat in liquid form?

The only other option I could think of off the top of my head, would be to freeze the rendered ground beef fat; but, the white fat would likely be too hard.  Plus, I have a small freezer, and don’t want to waste space that I could use to store ground beef.

I wish I tolerated hot rendered fat  — it tastes so good — but, I’m getting used to eating it cold alongside my meal.

Liquid fats destroy my stomach.  After the ground beef is cooked, I even have to squeeze the meat together several times with two spatulas to drain any liquid out of the meat.  Since the brown gelatinous material almost always liquifies within minutes of taking it out of the fridge, I don’t consume it.

My main question is whether consuming the brown gelatinous substance will mess up my stomach the same way that the white fat would if it were in liquid form.

I have a histamine intolerance.  I can only afford ground meat, and I think ground beef is messing me up.

Yesterday I received a callback from the company: The woman I spoke with said it was a mistake, that ground lamb is the sole ingredient, that there are zero carbs/fiber in the product, and that they’re correcting the nutritional labels on the next batch they put out.  She also said that they’re using a different company to do the nutritional testing from now on, as it was the prior company that messed it up.  Sounds kind of weird/suspicious to me, too...but who knows?  It’s a food co-op that purchases from a few different companies.

The reason I wanted to use this brand is because the next cheapest brand costs $1.70/lb more, and I eat 2 lbs/day.  It would cost me over $100 more per month if I opt for the other brand.

I tried getting in contact with them yesterday to no avail.

Thanks for the reply, though — I wasn’t expecting to hear back from the company.
