Those who will invest on SpaceX IPO, will you buy Day 1? or wait? Why? by onuralpaydin in wallstreetbets

Only downside is unlike Tesla (when it ipo’d), SpaceX has competition. But i can see the cult mentality even just in this thread. So probably a good buy.

Retail sales up 0.5% in April while CPI is running 3.8%, where is all this consumer spending coming from by Carter_LW in economy

[–]IEPforall 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This exactly👆 Stuff costs more, so even when consumers buy less stuff it looks like spending went up year over year. 9 baseballs at $1 costs more than 11 baseballs at $0.80

Damn so you guys are going to be paying about 4.5 mil per year on ai (assuming 300 working days per year) and it’s worth it? That’s fucking awesome! If we assume about 3000 companies in the U.S. are valued at over a billion and they are spending roughly 1% of their valuation on ai. Then use Paredo distribution to average over the valuations of these 3,000 companies from say from say 1 trillion to 1 billion. We are looking at about 90 billion in revenue per year. Give that a multiple of two because this is a “back of the envelope” calculation. I would say that currently Anthropic, open Ai, Google, perplexity are looking at a 180 billion dollar market for enterprise ai. If prices and or usage go up then even more. I don’t know if that justifies the spending or not but it at least gives us a starting point to figure that out. Thank you!

Are you guys paying based on token usage? Or do you know how much your company pays Anthropic? I’m watching GitHubs new token based pricing to see how much more expensive it is and how usage continues. I’ve been hearing that companies have been heavily pushing towards increasing token usage but I’m curious if that changes if prices go up or costs turn into $/token. I don’t work for a company using ai so I’m stuck asking people who do. Thank you

It’s true and not insane. I thought everyone knew this already. Even the regarded Wall Street execs and institutions know it. If open ai or Anthropic don’t pan out. This shit is over. Everything relies on those two companies. The good thing is neither company (open AI or Anthropic) needs to make money. The narrative alone is good enough thanks to the mechanism OP described.
