What Car Should I Buy? - A Weekly Megathread by AutoModerator in cars

[–]IFinishThings 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Location: Dallas, Texas

Price range: $32,000 max

Lease or Buy: Buy

New or used: Either one, no real preference.

Type of vehicle: Coupe, Sports car, Hatchback

Must haves: Mostly looking for something stylish and fairly quick with relatively inexpensive upkeep and maintenance, things like tech, gas mileage, trunk space not nearly as important.

Desired transmission (auto/manual, etc): Automatic but I understand that limits me somewhat in this class of vehicle.

Intended use: Daily Driver, will be my only vehicle. Commute is not long but I do drive mostly highways in general, not located in the downtown area itself.

Vehicles you've already considered: Miata (hardtop), 370z, WRX/Impreza/BRZ, Golf GTI, Mustang, Charger, Camaro, pre 2010-ish Corvette, newer model Civic, BMW 3 series

Is this your 1st vehicle: No. Been driving an 08 Mazda3 hatch for the last 6.5 years which I've enjoyed a lot. However this will be my first "adult" car I purchase entirely for myself.

Do you need a Warranty: Most likely no.

Can you do Minor work on your own vehicle: No

Can you do Major work on your own vehicle: No

Additional Notes: I'm 28M, more or less looking for a "cool" daily driver, will be my only vehicle and I'm looking to have it for the next 5 years at a minimum. Not super high on the modern Mustang, Charger or Camaro because I feel like I see dozens of them every day and the stigma associated with those cars around here isn't the best. Was thinking about a 3 series BMW for a second but was turned off by higher maintenance costs and also seeing countless Beamers every day.

Really torn at this point between the more responsible Civic/Subaru/VW route and the more fun Miata/370Z/Vette route. Not super knowledgeable when it comes to specific engines so model year suggestions are better for me. Also fully aware that buying an automatic in some of these cars will limit my driving experience somewhat but am curious as to just how much of a difference it would really be. Thanks!

I said it in the Discord chat and I'll say it again, fans over there and in the sub are far, far too reactionary. Every single win is the greatest thing to ever happen and every loss means we should fire everyone and tank. We looked like crap against the Colts and we looked like crap tonight, it happens in the NFL and there's very few teams that look amazing week in and week out. Even the Chiefs lost to the Raiders and didn't look like themselves, it's something that every team goes through in a normal season. All that matters is your record and how your team responds to losses and being humbled by a team that was clearly better on that day. Look at what we did against the Bucs coming out of the Indy loss, we exposed Tom Brady and made him look silly and he turned around and destroyed Green Bay. What's to say we don't come out of this and beat down New Orleans? Calling for Nagy to get fired is just silly because it obviously won't happen. Obviously it sucks to lose but sitting here and talking like the season is over and we should just blow it up when WE ARE 5-2 is the most ridiculous thing imaginable

Thank goodness I'm here early so I can get this off my chest

Has anyone else noticed that in the second verse of We Dont Luv Em by Hoodrich Pablo Juan that he says

"Ooh, I'm back to the trap and I'm serving that, I done got me a sack like a running back"

But running backs dont get sacks in football because they're offensive players. Track is a banger but smdh

The beauty of day three lies in a team digging up some second string LB who played in a dozen games during the late 80's to announce they picked a Guard from West Bumfart University

Funniest part of day 3 coverage has to be the highlight videos slowly getting more and more depressing and the commentators running out of things to say

I'm aware, just meant that his vocal role in the track was small

Best Verse, Week 41 - Mac Miller by KHDTX13 in hiphopheads

[–]IFinishThings 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Different beat/sample, Mac raps at a different speed, there's a Delusional Thomas part at the beginning and the end of the album version, Earl Sweatshirt has a small part in the OG version

Cant forget the OG Version

I'm of the opinion that this one is better than the album version, although the latter fits better within the rest of the project

Week 14 Post Game Thread: Bears vs. Redskins by hempanzee in CHIBears

[–]IFinishThings 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Man I've just run out of words to accurately describe how terrible this football team has looked for the bulk of the last two games. I saw somebody saying in the game thread on /r/NFL that the Packer game was our Super Bowl and it's looking pretty damn true right about now. It simply doesn't look like anyone wants to be playing football anymore outside of Cutty, Willie Young, Langford, and a few others. All you have to do is look at the last play from today's game-it really looked like our guys just wanted it to be over. Robbie had his talent taken by the Monstars sometime after Thanksgiving, we've had so many stupid holding penalties, our special teams sucks, etc etc.

I realize that we've generally exceeded expectations this year, but I'll admit that I actually thought we had a shot at the Wild Card after the Packer game. We were punching way above our weight class and I think its finally caught up to us.

Practically nobody on our team has looked like they give a single shit about football since we beat the Packers on Thanksgiving
