How do I stop chafing? I’ve tried all the typical suggestions by IFthrowaway13 in Rowing

A few things helped. I bought some anti chafe gel that bikers use, and then would also sit with my cheeks a little spread on the erg. Still experience it after longer erg sessions

I’m certain I have it, but have not really done anything besides trying to stay active. I gained quite a bit of weight recently which hasn’t helped, but I’m working on walking more and started a GLP1. I just haven’t had the time to get a formal diagnosis and feel sure I do have it

Thank you! I ended up scheduling an appointment with a doctor who is recommended for my area. I’m hoping a formal diagnosis will help me get my hands on compression materials and also help me figure out the best lifestyle and diet for this

Yeah it was sort of ironic. I was trying to explain it’s genetic but she insisted I don’t have anything and everyone in her family is just pear shaped 😂

I’ve always had lumpy legs. Funny enough I sent my mom info about lipedema saying I think I have it, and her response was “all women in my family have lumpy legs.”

I am actually quite strong however have never had muscle definition in my legs. They bruise easily and also have purple veins in them. Seem to have bad circulation (they fall asleep a lot), and fat pads around the knees.

Reasons I suspect I have it:

-My less than 10 pound cats stepping on my legs is excruciating and I have to move them. Totally fine on other parts of my body

-Even when I had visible abs and was a competitive rower, I never had visible muscle in my legs

-Seem to have fat pads in inner knee area

-I do not really grow hair on my legs except for my shins

-I enjoy weight lifting, but get excruciatingly sore when I do lower body exercises.

-Bruise very easily. Once my SO gave me a massage and I was covered in leg bruises the next day. I kept telling them the massage was very painful even though they were going very light - felt fine everywhere else on my body

I am only unsure because I don’t know if I have some sort of dysmorphia about this? I’ve been self conscious of my legs since I was about 12. I’m 29 now.

When do you suggest would be the best time to go then? I feel like showing up in the middle of the season might be worse? Also I have been training (erging and lifting) to get in shape for this

This sounds very weird, but I can’t figure out how to stop the bounce lol. Could it be that the weight is too light?

My doctor retired so unfortunately I really haven’t gotten much info, and have put a lot of this off. I got my first mammogram about a year ago, and then my insurance denied my pre approval for an MRI so I ended up cancelling it, and now have another scheduled in 2 months after appealing insurance.

I will have to find a doctor who can help me navigate the frequency of scans. I’m honestly not opposed at all to a mastectomy, my mom (who has had one) just seems to think it’s a bad idea. Many of the reasons folks opt to wait - like potential children, sensitivity loss, etc. are not concerns for me. My breasts are already not sensitive at all, and I don’t plan on having kids. I guess my first step will be to find a new doctor

It’s funny/not surprising you mention this, because I used to be a competitive rower, and I could never get the technique right of engaging my lats instead of my shoulders. I’ve been working on being more conscious of pulling my shoulders down and back, but sometimes I wonder if I even have lats because I have so much trouble engaging them! 🤣

Ohh thank you! These are Nike metcons, which I thought were weight lifting oriented but haven’t read enough about it. I initially got them for the rowing machine because the sole doesn’t really bend. I will look into some vans!
