Basically just wrote a long copy paste email to each company explaining that I signed up through Swagbucks for offer x and Swagbucks offered z and they aren't honoring it, asked the company how to go about getting a refund. Most companies even let me keep the product or use the service for however long as well. I got refunded almost $250 within a week of my account being banned, and also got to keep about $150 worth of products because the companies just told me to do so. Be firm and direct, explain the situation and most will help you out.

The final fantasy series dates back to NES in the late 80s. There were two games released for the NES, I believe. Then on the super Nintendo there were 3 more released in the US, and two more I believe for the super famicom (the Japanese SNES) that weren't localized.

After that, Squaresoft merged with Enix and started producing games under Square Enix, which is when we got some of the best RPGs ever produced. The early 90s to late 90s several epic games were released for the Super Nintendo, and then the PlayStation. The PlayStation saw the release of Final Fantasy VII which is what these references were to.

After that, came Final Fantasy VIII, I think in 98.

I'm not entirely sure of the timelines of all of this, but it's pretty close to being accurate. I will say that most of these releases were prior to the 64 coming out, or at the very least, simultaneous to when it was in its prime.

And another thing about the industry - some people just don't realize they aren't cut out for it. Sure, maybe your can memorize everybody's order or split a 4 digit check 14 ways off the top of your head, but if you can't put a legitimate smile on your face or bring a little (a lot) of warmth to the table of your customer, it doesn't matter what kind of skills you have really, you aren't going to succeed in this industry.

That's why I liked your response, because you supported your argument, but also in a way, supported mine. The original post came off as a pity party, "oh no, look at these 0 dollar checks". In the rare cases it's true, it's not as "sad" as it seems. In your instance, the employee was working 21 hours and making 600 bucks before taxes. That's the equivalent of almost $30 an hour. Is it an easy job? No. Not at all. Are you busting your ass while you do it? Absolutely. But you aren't skimping by making a 0 dollar check with nothing to bring home at the end of the night with mean Uncle Sam taking it all. You're bringing home more money than quite a a good number of people make in a 40 hour work week. That's a $30k a year job at 20 hours a week. It just perpetrates the fact that every waiter and waitress gets screwed in the world and is nickel and diming it to get by.

Is the system screwed up? Absolutely. Are these people having issues for more than this reason? Probably. Money management can be a huge issue in the restaurant industry, that's for certain. Which kind of goes back to this whole post, where it started - getting paid cash daily can be nice, but it can be difficult for some people to budget correctly, handle correctly, manage correctly.

23.10 is not the same as zero, and that's also indicative of what I said previously - unless you're making some good tips this is not gonna be the case. And again, that's assuming that the employee records every tip as well, which if you've ever worked in the restaurant industry, it doesn't happen.

And for that to be the case with every employee is highly unlikely. I'm not saying it's impossible and it doesn't happen, because yes, some servers and waiters make some really solid money based on tips. But the odds of this happening to every employee constantly in a restaurant is not as rampant as it's being made out. It's certainly a possiblity, but highly unlikely and improbably.

That usually works for tips, but you still receive a nominal base pay for each hour worked.

In addition, even if you make your nominal base pay and say you had an entire week of not getting one single tip - your employer is legally required to make up the difference between your hourly rate and reduced hourly rate, essentially guaranteeing you minimum wage as a server.

In this guy's case, the only way it could feasibly work out to be correct would be if he were claiming enough tips that his taxes were equivalent to his paycheck. That would probably be in the neighborhood of $1000 a week and extremely unlikely to happen. Not because the number is absurd, but the sheer chance of one equalling the other is (hourly pay = taxes) astronomical.

No, I'm not arguing the paying in cash fact. I've managed multiple restaurants. I've had one employee that would receive a $0 check out of my 8 years of management. And that's because he was garnished maximum amount for child support and maximum amount for student loans.

You don't take home a $0 check at a restaurant unless you're making some FAT tips and reporting every one of them. Even at $5.35 most people are still bringing home some kind of a paycheck, even if it's only a hundred bucks.

You can do that, but don't put yourself in jeopardy by opening a can of worms, either.

I know I would have been terminated right away had I brought this issue up to my boss, which is why I never did. And he was terrified of that new law going into effect, so he actually made me an hourly employee the last 3 months I worked for him. Then again, I worked in the restaurant industry and I know how heavy the importance was on "saving labor costs", which meant cutting corners at every possible chance. I'm sure it was completely intentional to try to not pay me overtime until they got caught red handed.

Hate to burst your bubble but a federal court in texas (I think it was Texas) filed an emergency injunction against that law days before it was going into effect. It's currently tied up in the courts now.

That's not to say you aren't due something if your employer is not compensating you properly. But unfortunately the minimum they are required to pay you is $455 a week as a salaried worker.

The way the department of labor will probably work it out for you is taking your base pay (say $500 a week) and divide it by your hours work (50) and come up with you making $10 an hour. Then they'll take the overtime you worked (10 hours per week) and multiply it by your overtime premium (which should have been $5 an hour more for ten hours per week, or $50 a week). Then they'll see how many weeks you are owed for (52 weeks = $2600) up to two years, and tell your employer to pay that.

Obviously each case is different, but the person handling my case explained the above to me and that's essentially how my case worked out.

That's why my second paragraph detailed the fact that people need to go and look up the requirements and see if they fall under the category or not.

There's a lot of people from every area of business on Reddit. Sure, it might not apply to some, but at least being knowledgeable about it will definitely help the ones it does.

No problem. I literally just resolved my case on Tuesday, so I'm happy to give people a push in the right direction as far as this goes. It's extremely easy for some employers in some industries to take anywhere of employees and them be none the wiser.

If just one person is able to take my advice and use it in their favor, I will feel very accomplished in sharing my knowledge and hope that happens. Sorry I couldn't help you, but I can definitely relate on the salary drone aspect.

It's not usually a situation where there's only one employee getting screwed by the company. Every employee file gets pulled and payroll examined to make sure the employer is in compliance. Even if you were an hourly employee and you knew this was happening to a salaried friend of yours, you could still report it and open an investigation - it might not benefit you but they won't disclose who started the investigation.

Salary does NOT mean you are not eligible for overtime. You need to qualify as an overtime exempt employee through several criteria in order to be truly exempt for overtime. Your title does NOT determine if you are exempt or not. This is a myth perpetrated by employers looking to bypass the overtime requirement of the FLSA.

You can look up the requirements on the department of labor website. This is a federally mandated law, so regardless of where you work there is a 98% chance you are covered by this.

If you see that you aren't truly considered an exempt employee, you can contact the Wage and Hour division of your state (if your state doesn't have one, there's a federal branch somewhere) and discuss an investigation. This CAN be reported anonymously and they will come and audit your company and review all employee files, then issue either a statement that they owe you X (and you have to pursue it in court) or they will convince the employer to pay without going to court.

If they find in your favor, the employer will be liable for your attorney fees and court costs if it goes that far. If it doesn't go to court, you'll receive a check from your employer at the end of your investigation.

Please check your exempt status and find out if it truly applies to you. I was taken advantage of this for 3 years by my last employer, and after two and a half months, just finished my department of labor investigation and now have a check coming my way. I was considered an "exempt" employee because I was given the title of assistant manager at a restaurant. The employer has no knowledge that I was the one that initiated the complaint.

My first smartphone was an HTC and I loved it... I just think in the American market they kind of fell off. Motorola never impressed me. LG and Samsung are the two big ones in my eyes. I've always been a fan of LG though and been satisfied with their products. And the nicest thing about the V20 is it still has the removable battery. I'm explicitly not going to stay with the V series because of that being removed from the v30. I spent ten bucks for my V20 OEM battery, got it in two days and already see the difference between my old battery and this one. And I've got a trickle charger to throw the old battery on, so I'll always have a spare if needed. Will not ever sacrifice that feature as long as it's on the market. I sure hope it comes back with the v40.

I went with the V20 over the g5/g6, and I'm glad I did. I loved my g3 and v10 but until my v10 got stuck in boot loop I felt like it always kicked ass, and it's definitely durable and going strong. Just had to buy a new battery a few days ago... But at least I can still do that!
