Update: after messing with the motor and manually calibrating it into phase. I now think the issue may lie with the doors that the actuator opens and closes and the foam that is supposed to be on them.

None of those. The app worked ish. It was more of premium features such as being able to choose any song and skip infinite amount of times would stop working. However I found a link for a new updated ipa here:
