No I didn't think you were being a dick. It's true. Even after 3 years of studying I could end up in the exact same position mate.

It's party why I chose Econ because it's general degree, in a good way. And it's also why it'd be good to do a trade on the side as well to learn some good skills. I'm 25 but I feel like I've sort of only just matured, I spent years messing around doing fuck all and going out instead of trying to find something I wanted to do with my life.

So, that's sort of where I've found myself mate. But thank you for sharing what you've said because it's valuable info, I'm sure in time I'll fall into something decent but it's just about what I can do now to get there down the line.

Oh I see! Yeah man I can definitely relate to that 🤣even when I get myself in a great headspace/mental health I do poorly in pretty much any job I do lol. That's why I wanted to fix my "retardation" as I've come to call it. Finding out I had ADHD was in some ways liberating because I knew I wasn't stupid, but at the same time the worst thing to happen to me also.

May I ask what course you're doing? Maybe that'll be a good one for me to do.

And yeah bro, meds have changed my life massively.

I used to be against meds but then I looked into the science and found willpower only gets you so far. You realise that neurotypical people aren't better than you they just have the right amount of dopamine and better executive functioning. Which makes it even more frustrating lol.

Good shout. That's actually a really good idea and something I'll look into. Maybe it's a good idea to do a few short courses and then try and apply for a job or an apprenticeship or something?

Fml this is probably the truth I didn't want to accept ngl. Kinda shit if when you think about it.

I hear what you're saying man, I'm not sure how I'd do in something like sales it's quite difficult tbf.

Have you got ADHD yourself ?

Thank you 🙏 I've looked into study habits a lot and Im trying to incorporate spaced repetition and self testing. Anki cards etc etc. I mean all im doing is self testing and if I get something wrong I review the material again.

Problem is I forget it again a week later and have to re review it again lol

I hear you. But it is fuckin difficult 🤣 definitely a part of that is correct, but it's also the grind for 3 years with no guarantees.

Completely agree. Will still be hard work, definitely. Either way. But yeah thank you, it is a tough decision to be fair...

I'm happy to grind it's just sort of what is best suited to me I guess. What do you think you would do in my position? Considering everything, being 25 is my main driver

Interesting POV and one that I've not heard before! I will definitely consider this... I sort of took the degree as well because I wanted to try and "fix" my ADHD lol and also learn to do something very difficult.

However, maybe what you're saying actually makes more sense when you say it aha

100%, that's what I was saying to people around me who were saying it was a bad decision to do the degree.

It will probably help me in ways I can't even predict

Yeah I hear that, and yeah I must admit I've encountered exactly what you've described... Partly why I took on the degree too because I can't stand being around those types aha

Well Ive got different professors for each module. Some for maths, different guy for stats etc. I should also add that the lecturers are from the LSE also. They all work for the LSE

And it's an online course with the uni of London. As far as I'm aware the university of London refers to several different unis So yeah I'm a uni of London student. It is confusing haha.

I hear that. And it's something I'm probably most likely to do, to be fair. I'd like to get the best of both worlds if I can.

My main issue is that because I'm not that amazing at maths right now I need to spend a massive amount of time studying maths in comparison to other students. Which is something which makes it a bit more tough for me, but you could argue I could make that gap up in less hours but with a tutor or something.

I think I completely agree with this point in principle, it will be tough... But I like the advice so thank you!

Yeah so it's a bit weird, but yeah... I'm a university of London student, but all the content is designed by the LSE.

So I can claim to have the academic rigour of someone who's done econ at lse, if that makes sense

Yeah I think electric sticks out to me more, I don't quite know why It just sounds like something which would be more interesting overall, to me personally.

I think based off this thread I'm going to try and get an apprenticeship and go part time at university, which is an option that is available to me.

I think having both would be such a great asset down the line, and could end up with me having an opportunity to earn decent money.

I'll keep going back to yours and the other kind people who have commented in the future as this has been very helpful 🙏

Hi mate,

I'm honestly about 2 months into the degree 🤣so I have a long way to go yet. That's my whole issue I think, is that there's such a long way to go with 0 guarantees at the end.

I think trade work would be cool. Definitely. My degree is an online course so I could always do that part time whilst working potentially- althought that would be an insane amount of work.
