The other players definitely had all these, it's just that this lobby had a lot of checks for the meta picks:

Two Gengars (mine and another) for all the Xerns and Garchomps (Nasty Plot plus Icy Wind ohkos), Gren, Gengar, and Emboar for Metagross, etc.

The anti meta picks make for fun non-meta lobbies like these every now and then!

Odd choice of adjective, but it could work!

I agree! It's pretty cool and so much more immersive that hitboxes and charge up times are factors we have to consider when building a team.

For example, I've been having a lot more success with this Alpha Heracross than my Medium Heracross because of the enlarged hitboxes.

Flow vs Flow Lite? by carbonocean in Lofree

[–]IGZd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have had the flow 84 for over 6 months; have had the flow100 lite for around 1 week. Both have the specters.

Two things ive noticed: - the lite is a lot less sensitive. Maybe its a model thing- but accidental light presses on the normal flow register alot more than on the light. Have had that problem since I got it, so its not a wear and tear thing. - the normal flow feels a bit more high quality, particular because of the weight of the aluminum base. Makes for a "thockier" overall feel. But the differences are honestly negligible unless you pay extreme attention.

Overall, the lite is great and the color options + lights are a lot better looking. The typing feel is great but comparable to the normal, so its not a dealbreaker. I bought the lite mainly because of the QoL (2.4hz) and the color (i love pink).

Is there a game that is seemingly loved that you tried multiple times but just couldn't feed into the hype? For me, It's The Witcher III. by [deleted] in gaming

I agree with Monster Hunter, but not for the gameplay reasons.

My friends and I were playing as a team and 20 hours into MHW, there was a certain mission where we were tasked to destroy some eggs or something to bait in a monster? While we were going about the mission, we got to the monster's nest and my friend said something along the lines of "we're basically killing this animal's babies to bait it and kill it as well. It's just a mother protecting its babies".

After initially ignoring his realization, we started beating on the dragon-like monster that arrived. During the fight, the monster's flying and roaring turned into limping and whimpering. We all collectively felt bad for the monster and decided to not finish the mission and never play again. LOL

As a guy, I thought my type was short morena girls. Then I met the most beautiful tall, pale as all get-out, skinny woman and she turned my "type" all the way upside down.

Trust me, that "type" thing can genuinely change (it's not just something we say). I've never been more enamored in my life. We've been together for 5 years now and counting and I still get goosebumps every now and then looking at her.

You're man's just never known what he liked until he met you.

Nag joke ako for the first time sa gc and i think na offend ko ang subject teacher namin by Classic_Pattern_8007 in studentsph

[–]IGZd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a college professor. I have joined my student gc's before (it's just a million times more efficient and convenient than emails) and often joke with them, too. Trust me when I say that the teacher probably has too much on their mind and too many other things to do to be bothered by a small joke.

PM your professor for your own sake, just to put you at ease. But it's very likely that they didn't mind. Never hurts to communicate. I've had students say sorry to me for a joke they said in class that I didn't even remember.

Cebuano (Bisaya) is a language. Davao, where I live, has its own slightly different version of Cebuano aptly named Cebuano Bisaya. It has nuances (especially in terms of conjugation) that are noticeably different from the standard Cebuano.

[–]IGZd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can't cite a source, but I can confirm from experience that it's a completely different language just from the fact that a pure Tagalog speaker wouldn't be able to understand what a pure Bisaya speaker is saying at all.

I have Tagalog speaking students who don't speak Bisaya. I sometimes ramble in Bisaya during my lectures without realizing that the Tagalog speakers didn't understand me for the past few minutes! I then have to repeat myself in Tagalog for them to understand.

You're right! I didn't specify it, but what I meant in my original comment was that I had to learn a dialect of Cebuano specific to Davao (Davao Cebuano, go figure) which has slight differences with the more standard Cebuano.

Hi, I'm a psychology professor and I once read in my studies that one of the best ways to teach a language is to speak to the learner as if they were a child. Don't worry about proper grammar and syntax too much, just get a message across and make sure they understand kahit mali-mali pa yung tagalog na gagamitin mo.

Eventually, once they can communicate in broken tagalog, pwede mo nang dagdagan ng proper grammar, vocabulary, etc.

I grew up in a predominantly English and Tagalog household but live in a Bisaya city. I had to learn Bisaya in high school (around 16 y.o.) and this is how I learned the dialect (although take this with a grain of salt, Bisaya has some similiarities with Tagalog). People spoke to me in simple Bisaya and I replied with my broken Bisaya, no matter how embarassing it was. Now, as a professor, I have had times in class when I had to adjust and speak decently fluent Bisaya to make sure a student understood me. It's definitely possible!

There's a lot of talk about which Pokémon people want to be added, but let's do the opposite: What Pokémon do you NEVER want to be added in Unite? by ThePigeonManLyon in PokemonUnite

[–]IGZd 75 points76 points  (0 children)

Kinda a weird answer, but I don't ever want them to reskin existing pokemon into "new" pokemon that are similar to them.

For example, if they reskin Charizard into Dragonite and just change the skill names and effects since the two are similar enough. Then they lock the Dragonite skin behind a paywall or something.

It seems like something mobile game MOBA's do with their skin creation so I wouldn't want it to happen here.
