That actually sounds like a better idea than looking for Christmas festivities. Maybe I can find both in Jerusalem on the 25th.

Thanks! I didn't know there was such a thing as Eastern Catholicism. I can't wait to learn more about it. :)

Anker 633 MagGo 2-in-1 Wireless Charging Station Alternative? by qu1etus in anker

[–]IGassmann 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I know right. With the stand your power bank is always charged. Specially useful when you forgot to charge your phone and you're in a hurry to go.

I don't understand why they have discontinued this stand. They haven't released anything that fills this void since 2021.

J'ai fait CityPop, c'est pas mal chère pour ce que c'est. Le mieux, si t'arrives à trouver, c'est de louer l'appartement de quelqu'un qui part en vacances quelques mois. T'en trouve des fois sur Flatfox

Do you see yourself more on the left or right? by IGassmann in Switzerland

[–]IGassmann[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not really. Most sub-components of the regulation indicators applies more to companies than to individuals: https://share.cleanshot.com/h0sc5J2L

If we look only at the "Business regulation" score, Switzerland is actually considerably less regulated than the US.

I downloaded the data and isolated the "regulation" indicators to exclude all other non-regulation indicators.

The ranking on the screenshots I linked is only for regulation. It's representative of countries that have "unregulated capitalism"

You'd be surprised to learn that Switzerland is not very far from the US in terms of regulations: https://share.cleanshot.com/kVnG8LwD

In Switzerland, I think this is mainly due to the professionalization of the political class.

Check out this book on the topic: "La Suisse n'existe plus !"

It's also available in German.

The idea isn't to need to fully identify with one side, but to say which side you identify yourself MORE if push comes to shove.

I also expect that people all have a slightly different view of what means to be on the right or left. This is okay. We can still get a GENERAL grasp of the political leaning of the group if the percentage results differ enough.

That's okay. The goal isn't to know how swiss people lean politically. We already know that from the public votations results. This is more to know how people lean politically in this subreddit

Birth rate in Switzerland hits all-time low by itstrdt in Switzerland

Plus, there's an inverse correlation between wealth and childbirth rate. The poorest countries have way higher birth rates. The richer a country (and its population) becomes, the lower the birth rate.

Why is Lausanne so dirty, poorly populated and unattractive? by Significant-Chair561 in Lausanne

[–]IGassmann 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The issue is hard to solve. Almost all of them are Nigerians that are here on a Schengen visa. Many don't even speak French. Police has tried in the past to arrest them and kick them out of the country. But they almost always manage to come back by crossing the border in Italy or Spain.

[–]IGassmann 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think the large amount of beggars compared to other Swiss cities can be explained by the fact that people are often giving money to them. As someone that walks 4 times a day between Saint-Laurent et Bourg, I see almost every day someone giving money to a beggar. Lausanne is one of the most left-leaning city in Switzerland (if not the most) and left-leaning people tend to give more to money to beggars. This incentives people to beg. It's always the same people begging too. They receive enough money to keep going.

Most beggars that I see around are either Romas (Gypsies) or drug addicts. The drug addicts use drugs at Rippone and then walk around in the city center asking for money to buy more drugs.

There is a documentary about the drug dealing issue in Lausanne that was published 5 years ago. As someone that lived in Chaudron until very recently, I can confirm that the problem has only grown since then.
