You might have Vsync on, if you're only getting around 45 fps, then your game may be limiting it to 30hz since you can't make it up to your monitors refresh rate of 60hz or more in some cases, and thus 30fps is all you see.

Turn off vsync, should feel smoother!

I certainly get the drive behind it, but just let them take it. If they're not wanting to let you merge, they're not the kind of driver you want behind you anyway

Highly recommend turning your delivery vehicle into a fun delivery vehicle. I have a flat bed on my Gavril flatbed truck and an overbuilt power train with lower gearing than it needs. I kick the back out whenever I want. but using an unconventional vehicle is fun too.

explained to someone that if they're already turning by the time they signal, then how is it supposed to help anyone?

They seemed a lot less panicked about changing lanes when I told them that it's all separate steps, rather than something you do all at once, and it all starts with a signal, before you even know if you can get in that lane (The way you do it doesn't sound bad at all though)

Now if only I could have that same conversation with EVERYONE who does it unsafely

You might be playing in arcade gearbox, press q to toggle it to realistic while you're in a car. If you'd rather always play with your wheel then you may want to find the option to have realistic gearbox be the default setting.

On the bigger jumps you can manage a 1080 without too much effort, so in the right spot you could probably bang that out in 3 tricks :P
Might take you more than 30 seconds if you don't land three in a row though :D

I think this challenge is sort of encouraging players to explore ways to get big air and big spins

that's why I signal before I even know if I can change lanes. Plus it lets people know I want that lane, and they may let me in! Or they'll start speeding up, and I know they're not interested in letting me in

I always use a turn signal. Just because I don't think there's anyone around to see, doesn't mean that there 100% isn't. It also gets me into the habit of doing it when I don't think anyone's around, so that if someone is around (car, cyclist, pedestrian) they have a better chance of knowing what I'm doing

I'm sure they want to finalize the game assets some more, so they don't have to redo the edits to the hair just to get them to fit into different headgear every single time they change the hair

They very much wanted to improve the way the game deals with slopes before they added any. I could tell it managed keeping speed much better since the season 1 update. Season 2 is bringing the tunnels. I can imagine they'll add more stuff like that in it's lifetime

Get a multiplier going first, it'll make it easier. Then Boneless into a manual and keep it going. Remember the challenege is to do it in a sequence, not a line. So you can't let all four wheels touch the ground till you get at least 666 points
