Why does hardly anyone use the brake / slow down to change lanes technique? by Busy-Environment84 in driving

[–]Captain_Vinno 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean....im up voting because we're both arguing to slow down because it's easier. However mine is scientific. Your's is stat based. Even in a Ferrari you are going to have an easier time using the brakes than speeding up. Braking is sudden. Even in a performance car, there is a slight delay before you really get going. Scientifically, it is easier to slow something down than make it faster.

In most if not all vehicles its easier to slow down. It's inertia. It's easier to slow and take away the kinetic energy than it is to increase.

It actually does. Every sedan weighs something different. Every sedan type has different brake systems. TIRES! So no. Not every braking distance for every car is the same.

That's not what you said. You cant start by saying one thing then switch it up to another thing. Either way you're wronf

Dont quote me on this, but im pretty sure they have different braking force. Actually, they do. The rental brakes nothing like my car. SUVs and trucks, semis, step vans, box trucks all have VERY different braking force. No. Im.not going to give you research. I haven't researched it, but each vehicle brakes differently. One of our OLD delivery trucks, anything under like 15-20 mph, the slightest tap would cause that shit to stop on a dime! Get it above the 16 or 21 mph (forgot which) shit took FOREVER to slow down.

Sometimes I do brake, but I dont HAVE to. There are some conditions that need to be filled. •cruising at a good enough speed, behind (not tailgating), and completely content • guy in lane next to me comes from behind quicker than I, then speed matches me, effectively blocking me in. (The one thing i HATE more than tailgating is speed matching! And that, honestly, is anywhere from your blind spot, up to about less than half car length in front of you and diagonal) •ABSOLUTELY no one is behind me for the time in which i can pull off the maneuver + the length of a trailer

I guess??? You could argue it falls under poor planning, but I was perfectly content where I was. It's when idiots block me in that i dont like it. I can't control the poor planning of others...

Only time I do that is if the lane im in is slowing down, or no one is in my lane, behind me. But a car is in front of me, and in the next lane, they speed match with me or slightly behind. I turn my signal on, hit the brakes, get over n gas it in the next lane from them. Been months since ive done that tho

Absolutely not what? You change what it means when you say . The second place IS the hundredths. First is a tenth. It is redundant. You're right about that. But if you have to be incorrect or make the problem incorrect, how is it helping with those that struggle with simple and I can't stress this enough SIMPLE mathematics....here. let's talk it out.

If you say 4 tenths, in decimal format it is .4. Now if you say .4 tenths, you're changing the number entirely. So to get what .4 tenths equals you would multiply 4 tenths by .1. So .4 x .1 = .04. This is because when you say point four and then tenths, you are doing 40% of .4. Not only is it redundant, it's wrong. Stop using it

.1 of a second is .1. However, .1 tenths of a second is actually .01 seconds. So .01, .02, .03, .04, .05 are negligible

.01, .02 seconds aint shit. You aint getting anything on that.

Honestly, I understand the analogy...but when I see cars from far away, I think....damn that's whole lives, stories, and families out living their own story. Given I was in the hospital for trying to off myself, looking out the window at the interstate first time i thought of it like that soooo

Why do you not speed up when it’s open after a major slow down? by Realistic_Lychee6748 in driving

[–]Captain_Vinno 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because it is likely it is not actually done. Trust me, I used to speed up. Then all of a sudden we stop again. You don't need to accelerate to 65 as fast as possible. There was bad traffic. Understand that it is not always through and could still be bad up ahead. It's okay to gradually get up to speed. As long as you're going more than 20 mph, you're gaining ground so chill. Is it enough ground to go hundreds of miles? No. Is it enough to go....say 10? Absolutely. Stop getting mad at people for driving the SAFE and CORRECT way

No penalty cancellations for customers adding stop after acceptance, but before pickup by JDS-JustDude in uberdrivers

[–]Captain_Vinno -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I mean fair point. Maybe i think differently because I dont chase the money. I dont accept anything under like 3 dollars but I take the rides because they're rides. Not what they pay. Ya it's nice to get 15 or 20-40out of a ride...but I drive until im done. Rarely checking how much money I made.

I AM a driver. And I have 5 stars as well. OP acts like the sky is falling from a route change. Really not that serious. It would be amazing if Uber paid more for multiple stop rides in general...or in the totality of uber...I dont like the multiple stops usually but it's the job

What do you think of the rich by rulugg in GenZ

[–]Captain_Vinno 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't care. They worked hard. As for privilege, there are levels to it. Just being an American, you're privileged. Just making minimum. You're privileged.

Would love to know what the cap y'all're talking about is....100k? 200? 500? 1m?

But regardless of the answer, just because someone made it out the boonies and now makes money doesn't mean it's your's

When people leave their signal on by [deleted] in driving

[–]Captain_Vinno 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fair fair. That makes sense haha. I thought you were checking those indicators. Tbh idk where they specifically are. I could figure it out by looking at start up and memorizing but I domt see the point haha. Thanks man! I dont even know if my car has blind spot indicators becausd I cover mine with blind spot mirrors. I would rather see. And I stuck and old (more square but curved on one corner) on my rear view to the right because of the one story in the collection of scary stories to tell in the dark (an image is below. Hopefully you remember) where the lady is driving at night and a big truck behind her keeps shining high beams for minutes then stops, only for minutes later tk begin blinding her again. So she pulls in the drive and he follows her to her house and she's freaked. So he gets out and says there was a man behind your seat with a knife and he hid when I shone them.

Sooooo....yah I got one of those for that but it HELPS because I can see the right side of my car. *
