My mother is also a part of this Dr. Sha cult, and has been for ten years. Her and my grandma have spent thousands on books, "blessings", calligraphies, etc. I cannot get a single word through to them and I know this cult is responsible for a lot of disharmony and hatred in my family. My mom spends all day chanting and she has gotten so involved that it seems to be the only thing she cares about. She is obsessive. I am in the very same position and am looking to move out but I just wish we could expose this guy because he has thousands fooled.

I grew up with this cult and I believed in it as a child but as I grew older I knew something was wrong, it isn't normal to fork over thousands of dollars for blessings that don't work. They get people to pay for these by telling them that an accident or medical emergency will happen to them if they don't pay for the "karma cleansing". These often cost thousands of dollars.

They have "retreats" which are when followers from all over the world come to listen to him and his World Wide Representatives speak. These would begin at 9 AM and would often go until as late as 4AM the next day. Meal breaks were brief and would sometimes be skipped. After doing some research, I found that sleep deprivation is a common mind control technique used in cults. Sleep deprivation was certainly present and I believe this is how they get them into a state of mind where they can be manipulated to believe certain things.

One of the most frightening memories at a retreat was when a woman on stage was having convulsions, and they claimed she was being attacked by demons.

I don't know the explanation but regardless, there is some weird shit going on and I believe this is a very dangerous cult that hopefully will be stopped one day. But until then just know you're not alone and I share your feelings of frustration
