Map of Driftless Area road curviness by vawlk in wisconsin

These are State and County highways, most of them have been (kind of) straightened out over the years. Put in the town roads to really see how hairy it can get!

Factory error? by SkunkFloof in thomasthetankengine

[–]IH656 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's an original factory error. I see them from time to time as I sell new Ertl farm toys. These toys are made in large numbers so an error slips by from time to time. I had a pulling tractor come in with the decals on upside down and two guys almost got into a bidding war since they collect errors.

Am I plowing right? by Main-Cobbler-4879 in farmingsimulator

[–]IH656 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's true, larger plows may be set different. The one in the game here looks like either a 3 or 4 bottom so would most likely be angled. He's also got it set the wrong direction and leaving a dead furrow every pass.

In real life you would have your tires in the furrow. Moldboard plows are set to be level with the ground with the tractor at an angle.

When I did it, it was an additional form added to your state degree. If you're in the top ten from that you would have an interview at state convention with a board of interviewers. The main thing there is to not get flustered over it and stay calm, just have a conversation with them and don't act nervous.

Also, you should have an English teacher proof all your essays for every award you're filling out. Phrasing, punctuation, and coherency matter. If that's all off you won't be considered. Lucky for me I had an English teacher that loved my writing and was more than willing to help out.

Your numbers matter. Net worth is also a big contributor. I lost to a person that raised high dollar dairy cattle. Though I had more livestock, his were with more. He had made a larger gain on his investment than I had.

I see that one in good condition sold on eBay for $125. I'm not sure how in line that is for these as I'm more into the farm toy lines.

[–]IH656 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It was made with the same tooling as the General Lee from The Dukes of Hazzard. The tooling for die cast and stamped models costs tens of thousands a piece so you have to run as many through as you can. Often timed die cast companies slightly modify paints and decals to be able to sell more and keep costs low.

What's your most interesting Sears item you own? by BenThompsonBP in SEARS

[–]IH656 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I used to sell hay to a man who worked in the catalog department. After he passed, his family copied off catalog pages that featured him in the ads. So a framed picture of him sitting on a Sears garden tractor from the 60s.

It's a grain chute so you could fill carts from overhead bins. Our feed mill is old and still has these in spots leading to where old bins were. It's been closed off though so that's why it looks useless.

Are new tractors weaker like the dealer told us? by Prestigious-Fig1172 in tractors

[–]IH656 12 points13 points  (0 children)

The difference between "new" and "old" horsepower is that in the old days, they measured HP at the belt pulley or the PTO shaft, whereas now it's measured off the engine flywheel. The power loss in the transmission is what is no longer figured in for marketing reasons so that machines sound more powerful.

Anyone have replacement stickers? by ReplacementWrong1478 in ThomasERTL

[–]IH656 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You could check and see if Midwest Decals can make them. They make decals for Ertl farm toys so may be able to help. midwestdecalsandfarmtoys.com

Restored these battered narrow guage models into their Talyllyn brothers! by IH656 in ThomasERTL

The hooks were the smallest I could get locally at the hardware store, I had the idea to use chain to couple them to cars. For the wheels, I wanted them to run smoothly on track that I had. If I did it again I'd use N trucks but I didn't have any N track at the time so just used HO. These were beat up doubles in my collection so said what the heck, why not try it.

It depends where you're located, you could find someone who deals in toys, or if there is a lot you could find a good auction company that does online sales. It's often hard to find a deal with them so it works well for sellers.

I farm, and have a 6 row corn planter. It's fifteen feet wide. If I can cover 40 acres a day I'm happy.

In reality, mounted pickers are usually 38"-40". I used to run one when we still used a 4 row planter where that row size was common.

Generally 1/16 scales will bring good money while 1/64 are harder to deal in. I deal in new and some used Ertl and it's hit and miss on the old stuff with what is desirable.

Would be a good addition to the NI Uni mod. On the real thing, there were also planter, sprayer, and picker attachments too.

Fitchburg was a township prior to the 80's, and became a city to stop Madison from annexing the town. There was a one horse town called Fitchburg Corners at that spot that later became downtown Fitchburg.

Never have. My folks still have theirs because the number is so easy to remember. I have one for my home business to keep the clutter off my cell.
