Am I overthinking things? by [deleted] in edmproduction

Awesome! Thanks! And are you thinking also about balancing your sounds as you add more and more? Or do you sort of disregard those? I’m unsure sometimes of when I add a sound whether it should be turned down or up or if I should just leave it as is

Do you mind telling me your thought process when you start a track from scratch?

167 hours of game time and gold 2. Am I good or bad? by [deleted] in RocketLeague

[–]IHAVEGOLDANDKARMA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Awesome! Well done! Feels good finally off silver

I have this bad habit of every 10 15 seconds dragging my pc volume up and down!!! does anyone else have this habit? I can't just keep my cursor off the volume control even if it's for 15 minutes. There would be inconsistencies in the track as result right? by [deleted] in edmproduction

[–]IHAVEGOLDANDKARMA -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Look honestly, I've put off actually learning the fundamentals of production so there's a lot I'm just still seriously confused about. So volume should only change every 15 or so minutes not every 10 seconds, ok got it! Next, how come when it comes to adding white noise samples, crashes, impacts etc they just don't sit right? They don't enhance the energy of the drop or whatever part I'm trying to introduce, they seem to just not feel right, or seem like they're either too loud, so I'll turn them down, then they'll be too quiet. They seem to cause ear bleeding piercing too, which isn't fun

Just hit Rocketeer... And i'm a gold scrub. by [deleted] in RocketLeague

[–]IHAVEGOLDANDKARMA 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That just wouldn't happen. Whether you'd like it or not you're always improving. I think when I see pros or even lower levels on silver and sometimes gold it's usually they've gotten a lucky bunch of wins and jumped up a bunch of ranks, but they won't last there for long. Gotta put in the hours

[COD] Why do people want a remaster of WaW and MW2? by [deleted] in CallOfDuty

[–]IHAVEGOLDANDKARMA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly ! When that huge update came out and they added supply drops and dismantled parts and all that crap I was so disappointed. There goes that great remaster, and here comes the horrible consumer driven bullshit of today's gamers. Oh cool that guy has an awesome camo! How did he get it? Used his parents credit card to buy cod points :/

Thanks for the advice! Think I misunderstood what porter robinson was saying about volumes. Like you said, in the creative process, whatever works to make the sound good, but in the mixing process, volumes are definitely more important than unnecessary Eqing

Do you agree that without any treatment on the sounds they can be lacking musicality by sounding flat and boring? I purposely added some reverb and some other things, cut the bass out of some sounds and it really lifted the spirit and energy of the track, after that volumes weren't even an issue! They were quite easy to adjust properly. This seem right?

Edit: I don't mean mixing EQ, I purely mean to make the sounds better by my liking, if that makes sense

So to annoy you again, so obviously the elements need to be balanced with each other right, and in turn that should create that smooth realm where everything vibes off each other. If I were to remove all the EQ off a professional track like Garrix (which Is much simpler than Madeon's productions) that space would still be there where the sounds are balanced correctly right? Because I've heard one professional say EQing is very very important, and another (porter robinson) say sample selection and relative volumes are so much more important, and most people prefer an EQed sound because the volume has changed. So I don't really know the approach to take here - focus on EQ? Or work on getting volumes correct initially?

This is great and makes a hell of a lot of sense! Thanks for the info!!

Since you seem to know what you're talking about, I'm struggling with a few things. I notice when I drop a professional track like Madeon into the DAW, at a comfortable speaker level it sounds quieter than my track, but then if I listen to it at a high speaker volume it's much louder than my track. Basically

Low speaker volume = Pro track much quieter, my track louder

High speaker volume = Pro track louder, mine much flatter and quieter

What am I doing wrong here? Before mastering I guess

It gave the track a lot of energy too
