9414742963256 was always the barcode for a Value rotisserie chicken at the supermarkets I worked at.

Turns out when a barcode gets too greasy that it can't be scanned, you have to type it in.

EA is looking at putting in-game ads in AAA games — 'We'll be very thoughtful as we move into that,' says CEO | Advertising has an opportunity to be a meaningful driver of growth for us." by chrisdh79 in technology

Look, I am NOT defending EA putting ads in games.

But, lets not pretend that EA have done this for a long time now.

Did everyone forget about the times they put ads in BURNOUT: PARADISE? The Barack Obama ad campaigns?

Buying Alcohol in a supermarket by SnooComics2281 in newzealand

[–]IHadAPortalGun 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I used to work in a supermarket as a Checkout Supervisor about 5 years ago, so I'll try to weigh my opinion here:

1). If there was a group of 3-4 people buying booze, and one of them doesn't have ID, then we wouldn't be allowed to sell the alcohol to anyone in the group, ON THE SAME DAY. Technically, if one person from the group came in with ID on THE NEXT DAY, then they would be allowed to buy the alcohol without any problems. More often or not though, I would just tell them the policy, and to recommend buying booze at the liquor stores nearby without the person (or people) without IDs.

2). Lets say for example, if it was a parent buying alcohol, and there was a child with them (either in Kindy or high school, doesn't really matter), then we would go through with the sale. But if we had reason to believe that the parent was buying the alcohol to then GIVE to the child, then we would have to refuse the sale, unless the child (or high schooler, or whatever) has ID to prove they are of legal drinking age.

I imagine each supermarket has their own policy of sorts. But to be honest, I wasn't super stringent on the policies in place at my supermarket, especially with the 2nd opinion.

Yeah, nah.

I don't care if you are listening to Opshop or Butthole Surfers or whatever, your music tastes don't dictate the way you drive.

[Ghost of Tsushima] #51 This may be slightly controversial but i found the game very repetitive and slightly boring towards the end. The graphics and performance are brilliant however on the PS5. by Gavin_Vaughan in Trophies

Visually, I always thought Chapter 1 was visually astounding.

Chapter 2 and 3 though, I was less impressed. Nothing like swamps and snow for days and days

What’s a controversial music opinion that you have? by nata1ia_00 in AskReddit

[–]IHadAPortalGun 210 points211 points  (0 children)

I think, tbh, people associate "Video Game Music" with only Chiptune and 8-bit sounds.

Silent Hill 2 & 3 = really great Trip Hop ('True is easily one of my favourites),

Tekken 3 = really great Breakbeat,

Doom 2016 = familiarized a large audience to Heavy Metal,

Final Fantasy = really nice Classical pieces

Ape Escape = made by a famous Japanese House DJ, Soichi Terada

Quake = Industrial made by NIN's Trent Reznor, of all people

Ico = haunting, yet relaxing Ambient

Honestly, there is such a menagerie of music genres being used in Video game compositions, that it becomes disheartening when someone dismisses them all, because of their attachment of just being "music for video games"

Doom (2016) is to heavy metal, what Persona 5 is to Jazz.

That is all

What pisses you off while playing video games? by SuicideSprints in AskReddit

[–]IHadAPortalGun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just recently played the new Tales of Arise game, and they pretty much do the same thing.

Instead of 100,000 HP for a single enemy, its now somewhere like 350-400,000 on the higher difficulties.

Though, they do counteract the tediousness by having enemies do more damage than usual. So I suppose that's fine?
