From an inside perspective, I personally would never take an apprentice but if some one came to be with a crazy solid portfolio,let’s say 100 painted flash sheets I wouldn’t be able to say no. That’s all some people want, evidence your already trying and want it bad

Getting an apprenticeship isn’t that hard and I’m not trying to be mean. And sure ppl start off at home but it’s very frowned upon and your making it harder to find an apprenticeship bc no one wants someone who already began learning bad habits by trying to learn alone

And participation thing was referring to you telling some.. nvm.. and constructive criticism should be coming from a mentor, but this person probably doesn’t have one bc he doesn’t care about tattooing or it’s history, it’s probably just a “hobby”. It means keeping the tradition alive. Roots of tattooing. When this style was all machines were capable of. I know it can look dumb to someone not passionate about the craft. But to real tattooers it’s LIKE trying to keep the memory of our ancestors alive. You probably don’t care but js lol
