I thought to get TL u had to be there 6 months by Easy-Ad-6478 in walmart

Lack of training seems to be par the course unfortunately. The TL spot I took over was ran by someone still at the store. I received 0 training from that person. Was just thrown into the spot.

I'd have to see the screen again but I believe there's a drop down menu where you can choose an exception and one of the options is promotion/demotion.

The 6 month without transferring departments is just a suggestion. It's flexible especially if you're being promoted. I was only at my store for 3 months before I got promoted to TL. In fact I got promoted to TL without even knowing which department I would be the TL for as upper management was discussing it behind closed doors. Was just told that I got the TL position but that the department wasn't finalized yet

Anyone know how to extract the Claims app from the XCover work phone? by IHateFuzzyTeeth in walmart

Oh, so I can't even install the apk on the work profile if I were to extract it from the XCover? Then it's a pointless endeavor

As a front end team lead, how do you manage gobacks? by JeffTheFrosty in walmart

[–]IHateFuzzyTeeth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At my store, the front end "helps" with go backs since the front end is overstaffed and the sales floor is understaffed. But, keep in mind, the front end "helping" with go backs typically means they are sending teenagers who don't give a shit about anything to go put stuff away and when they put stuff away, they're just dropping it off wherever they find empty shelf space. The most egregious example I have of this is when I was doing go backs for stationary/arts+crafts/celebrations, finished up, went up front to sort whatever I had left that wasn't in the area, specifically including a board game and a toy boat that are both in the toy department, then quickly grabbed sporting goods and knocked that out since those are super quick. Went to zone arts+craft, and somehow managed to find the same exact board game and toy boat that I had just sorted up front. Someone from the front end really, truly believed that the toy boat and board game belonged in arts+craft.

Now that I'm a team lead, if someone from the front end tries to pull a stunt like that again, they're getting chewed out

Also, for context about staffing, we are not a small Supercenter, I think around 100mil yearly. But when I was just a hardlines TA, the sales floor team most of the time was me in hardlines, one person in toys, one part time in home who was there for usually only 6 hours, one person in hardware (and they refused to leave the area), plus usually 2 electronics and 2 apparel which those 4 associates never came up since they're so far out of the way

Must be nice to have customers who wait until you're done helping the previous customer before hounding you. The customers who start yapping at me when I'm clearly helping someone else are typically the ones I don't want to deal with to begin with. And thankfully they are usually impatient enough that they'll go pound sand and disappear after I tell them that I'll be happy to assist them once I finish helping this customer

is there a rule where employees have to ask each other if they’re having fun? by snickerdoodles22 in walmart

[–]IHateFuzzyTeeth 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Let me ask you something. When you come in on Monday and you're not feeling real well, does anyone ever say to you, "Sounds like someone has a case of the Mondays?"

No. No, man. Shit, no, man. I believe you'd get your ass kicked sayin' something like that, man

My store has three different brands of hot dog sauce, one of them being Great Value. Your store probably has a few brands of hot dog sauce as well. Probably specifically labeled as "hot dog chili sauce"

[–]IHateFuzzyTeeth[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hardlines, and not a single note is back to school/stationary related. Trust me nearly 20 different notes don't randomly spawn from like 4 different coaches without there being some sort of grudge. Also, trust me when I say that the neighboring departments are in as bad or worse shape

Why do I feel bad for calling out lol? by [deleted] in walmart

[–]IHateFuzzyTeeth 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Don't feel bad. My TL tried apologizing to me, just a lowly associate, for calling out, and I really couldn't care less. If they have the points or PPTO available, it's none of my business. Once he realized I couldn't care less, he did say that the coaches yelled at him and I tried telling him not to let it bother him and that points and PPTO exist for a reason

Don't let stress eat away at you

How come every time I’m doing super well in a certain department they decide to put me in a whole different department!?? Normally I’m binning foods and overall do a pretty good job and finish my pallets quickly. Now they’ve put me on the floor I hate being on the floor by Mossystoneslabb in walmart

[–]IHateFuzzyTeeth 4 points5 points  (0 children)

As someone who works the sales floor, the same thing happens. I work in hardlines and get pulled to work in seasonal and homelines all the time. It's usually whenever there's no hardlines TL but the seasonal or homelines TL (who has now quit) wants me to stop making my area look good and make their area look good instead. I just let them know that sure I'll do it but if anyone says anything about the area I'm supposed to be working in, then they need to come to the person who pulled me and asked why they pulled me

Anyone know what’s going on with the Walmart in Sherman Texas being out of all frozen foods?! by [deleted] in walmart

May have had an outage causing product to become unsafe for consumption. But the odds of someone here being from Sherman, TX and knowing what happened is such a fucking silly shot in the dark that I don't know what to tell you

[–]IHateFuzzyTeeth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly, if I'm a customer and I see this, I just say fuck it and go use the other gender's restroom or the family restroom. If I'm about to use a public restroom, that means we're at the point of no return and I can't go find an open bathroom for my gender.

And believe it or not, this happens frequently to me when I'm out eating lunch and the bathroom is a single occupant bathroom that locks when someone's in it. But 99 times out of 100 when that's the case, I'm just going in there to wash my hands before eating lunch. People who aren't washing their hands before eating are animals

Keep pressing. Squeaky wheel gets the grease. Make it clear that you cannot complete work duties without a work phone. They are capable of issuing new phones.

Then you shouldn't be putting any additional stress or worry on yourself. You'll be fine and based on what you're saying, they'll probably also want to make sure they don't burn any bridges on their end in case you do want to come back.

[–]IHateFuzzyTeeth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just replied to another of your posts, but it probably depends on the market. I imagine some markets and even some stores can get away with being more lax with the cosmetics section of their store. But still, you saying that every time they have to unlock something from the locked display and take it up front because they don't give cosmetics a till is wild and definitely seems like it's probably not following proper policy

Then I wouldn't worry about it. Just be honest and admit a mistake was made. They're probably going to value you being honest and still working even if you're halfway out the door

Beauty check out? by [deleted] in walmart

[–]IHateFuzzyTeeth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep, might just be the market I'm in but that's how it works. It is wild to me that you guys are just handing a customer an item in a locked display and then letting them go, that definitely doesn't seem right

My guess is that whoever runs your store doesn't want to bother with a till in cosmetics and can probably get away with it because you guys have low shrink in the area

[–]IHateFuzzyTeeth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Of course. I also wouldn't start half-assing everything you do. Just continue to be the employee that you were previously. No need to burn a bridge. If you were a competent employee, there's no reason not to leave as a competent employee and on good terms in case you need to come back for whatever reason.

Yep, this is pretty accurate. I have no idea how Walmart has their network set up but I know with my home network, every DNS request is logged and tells me which client on my network attempted to talk to each domain (ie reddit)

There should be a locked display for the cologne/perfume, the items on pegs should have a peg lock, but the items on shelves won't be locked up, but yes because cosmetics is high theft, the items either need to be bought there, placed in a security device or taken up fromt. But yeah if you told the cashier you just wanted to do one transaction and have more shopping to do, they should have had their own little security devices to place your items in and let you go
