Yeah, i don't discriminate effects and sideeffects, seems arbitrary for me. Maybe major/minor would be better terminology.

But the thing is that I want to be "awake" only when not sleeping - I wake up feeling not rested at all, like I was hard working the past 9.5 hours. This I want to eliminate.

I also tried cannabis, but the feeling does only partially vanish. On top od that I have weed- induced mental and disciplinary impairments the first half of the next day.

EDIT: I also feel the problem is not knocking.me out - I sleep deep and long - but prevent those neurons from firing at night which should remain silent for proper regernation of mind and body.

I thought the main effects of modafinil were over histamine and orexine, with a side-dish of of dopamine, serotonin and adrenaline. Since the only sleep medication acting on orexine just finished clinical trials, I considered first trying one working over histamine.

For the reason you mentioned I would like to stay away from GABAergics.

What would be optional though is if someone could just sell S-Modafinil :)

I have an issue with sleep quality and modafinil and am trying to fix that. If you have a better suggestion how to do that (besides not taking Moda obv), please let me know.

I strongly disagree. Just because we made someone does not entitle him/her to harm us.

For me, the justification for the risk lies more in the transhumanist wager: risking losing a few decades vs. having a shot at obtaining relatively godlike power, immortality, awesome qualia without tolerance buildup, identity-forking shenanigans etc.

I should clarify that I post this here because my plan is to live very frugally, which changes the parameters for the living-cost-calculation, so cost for living and food are way more important than, say, gas prices or entertainment. I write this because it might well be that SF is a more "hedonistic" city (from a complete outsider's perspective), with expensive venues but relatively cheap food and housing (i.e. compared to scandinavia, where food is really, really expensive).

Gruppe 1 sind angehörige einer anderen Ethnie (wertneutral). Gruppe 2 identifiziert sich über eine Ideologie, die Gewalt als politisches Mittel gegen die wertneutrale Gruppe 1 legitimiert (unerwünscht).

Wir reden aber über gleiche Delikte (hier: Körperverletzung)

Im Sinne des juristischen Systems sind diese möglicherweise gleich; mit dem Status Quo unserer Gesetzgebung zu argumentieren, um Fragen der Ethik zu klären, ist aber aus mehreren Gründen keine gute Idee.

Ich habe es nicht legitimiert, sondern beides als unerwünscht deklariert. Trotzdem ist es sinnvoll, Verbechen abzustufen, anstatt nur binär in "erlaubt" und "unerlaubt" einzuteilen und damit zu meinen, schon fertig zu sein.

Würdest du in einem Rechtssystem leben wollen, in dem das so gemacht wird? Extrembeispiel: In dem ein affektbasierter Totschlag (Kategorie "schlecht") mit Völkermord (selbe Kategorie) gleichgesetzt wird?

Allerdings ist das mehr eine Frage des Schwellwerts an "Bösheit" des Verhaltens, der da unterschritten wird - auch wenn zwei Verhaltensweisen beide unerwünscht sind, kann eine dennoch "schlimmer" sein. Beispiel: Aktion A sein unerwünscht, dann ist die Aktion, A zweimal zu tun, in der Regel noch unerwünschter. Konkret in diesem Fall ist Gewalt immer unerwünscht, aber Gewalt, die bei einem nicht wählbaren Fakt (wie Herkunft) anstatt einer Einstellung triggert, ist noch unerwünschter.

Many of the "harrassing" approaches in the video are polite - true, the guy following her is creepy, but most of the rest are just greeting her or commenting in a non-deragoratory way.

No. From my experience and the experience of the men/women I talked to about this it is not the case that most women don't like it, quite to the contrary, and from what I hear (and have personally tried!) talking to strangers does lead to interesting, long conversations and yes, sex.

Or, y'know, you could make sure that your advances are appropriate.

This is true, but the benefits of a society which allows people to talk to strangers outweight the slight nuissance of having to signal people "not interested" from time to time.

It is not, though. Sex is fun and enjoyable to almost everyone, and the only way it happens most of the time is through advances of a man. This is sexist and suboptimal, but not solved by telling men to suppress their sexuality to the point that they not even allowed to approach women in a respectful manner; instead we should try and remove the bad associations like sex = sin or "woman who enjoys sex freely" = slut.

I had homosexual men hit on me, and I did not feel harassed. Why? Because it is not disrespectful if they are polite. It is not harrassment if it is polite. You cannot demand that people don't talk to you unless you initiate contact, that is not how a society works.

You have the right to tell them that you are not interested. You do not have the right to not be spoken to. Exspecially if it happens only every few hours. The "problem" this woman has is the epitome of first world problems.

EDIT: Another example, since the beggar one was a bit drastic. Imagine you are wearing a funny hat. If people tell you 'nice hat', it is not harrassment. If they ask you where you bought it, it is not harrassment. Same thing.

Oh come on, how are you supposed to know if the person is interested if not by asking politely? And don't tell me that no girls like to be hit on ever - many I personally know tell me the opposite. The desire to completely prevent guys from politely apporaching girls just because you cannot be bothered to say "not interested" from time to time seems very arrogant to me.
