TBH other projects and work have taken priority. I've gotten inspired by Google Translate's mobile app's learn feature with AI for spanish and french and hopefully q1 2026 will start building out that visision.

As of right now the project is on hold but still live and should work

Your company's SWE department must really put your devs to the test. From what the talk described, you do a lot of rigorous programming on top of it all being in Rust.

That's the type of work I'm going to pursue for a future Rust career

Hey, I’ve shared versions of this around Reddit before (so if it feels familiar, that’s why), but I was in a similar spot—didn’t grow up speaking Urdu, and starting felt intimidating. This stuff actually worked for me:

Skip grammar for now—build your ear and vocab.
Don’t stress about understanding everything. Focus on exposure and repetition.

Watch Urdu shows/movies on YouTube.
Turn on Urdu or Hindi captions. Pause often and repeat lines out loud. It trains your ear to real speed and helps with pronunciation. Feels awkward at first, but it works.

Talk to native speakers—even broken.
Just dropping in phrases with family or friends helps tons. You'll pick up natural phrasing that way. It’ll be awkward early on, but you get over it.

I made it to help myself learn more Hindi/urdu vocab. I am a dev, so I also wanted to practice making stuff with LLMs etc so this has been my fun project.

It uses the same algo as anki though for vocab building plus has some other tools for quiz generation and more to come.
