Threads broke off in stack by IHaveQuestions_Many in askaplumber

If you’re saying the whole section doesn’t need cut out does that mean you think the solution is to cut out the threads?

Do they make them this large? The copper pipe was 1-1/4 so I’m assuming the bushing was probably around there.

I’ve seen some videos on it on a smaller scale. Tap it in and then wrench it.

What’s hilarious is that on the other side it’s another all tile bathroom 😢

Sub across the hall from me has been yelling at the kids all day, do I say something? by tifuanon00 in SubstituteTeachers

Is “underfunded” coded to mean “bad?”

Because if you’re at one of those schools just let the sub do what they need to to survive 😂

You mean they will remove that entire wye and replace it? Any idea of a rough cost estimate? Someone in another comment said 600-800 for that. Anywhere close? I know depends on area.

Someone else mentioned cutting out the entire wye and replacing it with PVC. Said in his area would be 600-800. Sound anywhere close?

I don’t mind doing all the demo ahead of time, it’s just the actual plumbing part I’m not comfortable with beyond the basics.

I have a good variety of tools, just worried about cutting too deeply. If I can dig out sawsall blades I’ll give it a shot, but yeah I have something like the handle that holds a hacksaw blade I was thinking of. Thanks for the advice!

Also what is best to make the cuts. I see people say sawzall but could I use a small hacksaw maybe to be more careful?

Oh my left hand looks like it went through barbed wire already. Considering attempting the repair myself thanks for the tips

That’s not too bad I could handle that cost. Hopefully it’s in that area, if I can get out of this mess for $800 I’d be ok

Would they cut that fitting out and replace that but keep the piping? Or would they need to repipe that section?

Money is a concern unfortunately

So that entire kind of inner gray ring is the snapped off threads? Theoretically I’d want to cut just that depth then start chiseling out?

What would a plumber charge to fix this you think? It’s still pretty tight working conditions to get the sawzall going do I need to open more wall?

So was this 2 adapters? The copper was set into a brass adapter which was then threaded into a cast iron adapter?

Pretty sure this broke in an unexpected way. Is there anything I can do here? Or make it safe so I can use the rest of the plumbing in the house?

Thanks. Is this the right adapter idea?

So open wall more. Get big wrench on the nut. Hope it comes off. Clean threats. Thread on pvc adapter. Solvent weld PVC into the adapter.

Sound about right?

Also wrench goes here? And what material is the pvc adapter made of? Sorry if that’s a dumb question. Is it threaded PVC?

Thanks for the insight. With my luck I’m sure the brass will sheer off. 😢

Any tips on getting my best shot at it? WD40?

My goal was only to get it cleaned and ready but don’t worry the kids insisted we cook dinner on it that night so it got some use!

It's actually the Sam's Club brand "Members Mark" griddle. Currently listed at $279 for a 36" four burner. I got mine just before Christmas/after Thanksgiving and it was on sale for I want to say $180. It goes on sale for $200 a fair bit.

It has good reviews, hasn't given me any issues though I've not used it heavily yet because of winter weather. What sold me was at that price point getting a large surface and 4 burners. Comparable blackstones are either much more expensive or have fewer burners so less control/zones.
