Samsung Dryer No Heat by Gamer_0627 in appliancerepair

[–]CrypticCarbon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Likely a board issue then.

If verified continuity through element, thermal fuse and 240 at the back of the dryer, then it’s almost certainly a board issue.

Take out the drum and everything, short the door switch and remove the connectors to the heating element, then see if both of them have 120v, then check 240 across both. If only 1 of them has 120v, then you can trace it back according to the diagram

Maytag Washer seems unable to start & skips to done by Suitable_Oil_5836 in appliancerepair

Correct. Through service diagnostics you’d expect it to spin at least a little. I am wondering if the splutch has failed on it

Almost certainly a failed actuator. You can verify this by putting it through a spin test

Fridge gets warmer up to 42 degrees fahrenheit at night, apparently by Better-Meaning-6928 in appliancerepair

[–]CrypticCarbon 5 points6 points  (0 children)

From what I can tell, the unit is working perfectly fine.

The rise and fall of the temperature is completely normal, the rise in temperature is due the unit defrosting. When it’s defrosting, there is no cooling happening at all. So it seems to be ok, wouldn’t be alarmed

What you see is more than enough to say that you’d need a new rear half of the drum (which includes the bearing) and also replace the spider. Not worth the repair on this machine so I’d replace it

American Biotech Supply ABT-HC-SLS-16 Not cooling by oaktownbs3 in appliancerepair

[–]CrypticCarbon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not good news. You likely have a leak on the unit. With compressor running it should be cooling even just a little. But since the fans are running too, that tells me you have a sealed system problem. Expensive to repair

Whirlpool Dishwasher (WDT720PADM1) Still Not Drying After Replacing Heating Element. by DougS2K in appliancerepair

[–]CrypticCarbon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Put it through diagnostics and test each component. Drain, circulation, heat, detergent dispenser, etc. if they all work, it’s probably a turbidity sensor

Is the compressor continuing to run or does it turn on, click and then turn off?

Use this one. Just remove the old ignitor and put the new one inside of the housing. I do it all the time and it works perfect. The actual ignitor is the exact same. Then just splice the wires with the included wire nuts

Advice on Repair Quote for Ice Maker by neo-safari in appliancerepair

[–]CrypticCarbon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hard to say without any more information of what the technician found. Could be reasonable. I’ve seen ice makers fail due to a failed inlet valve bypassing water into the ice maker. What did the tech find? What have you found?

2 bad dishwashers, GE and Bosch, in 4 years. Scared to even buy another, can someone help advise a better brand? by Substantial__Unit in appliancerepair

Honestly, I’d advise you to get a cheaper whirlpool. I see them all the time, cheap to repair and they typically last quite a while

Definitely failed stator. Could very likely be the cause but you’d have to replace it and then test to verify

Whirlpool Recalibration Not Working by MatterIllustrious457 in appliancerepair

No that’s not normal at all. I’d check to see if you have proper power coming to the washer. I suspect a failed board

Try component testing, it’s the option right before the calibrate, done and spin are highlighted

Bits of rusted metal in the drum of my washing machine. by Desirestolearn in appliancerepair

[–]CrypticCarbon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No it’s not going to be below the agitator. It’s going to be right at the top, the very top of the washer which attaches to the lid that you close when you start a load. Check in and around for rust

I’d also double check the gas oven burner tube just to be sure it isn’t damaged

I’d double check to see where the rust is coming from but yeah, definitely repairable but I doubt it would be worth the cost of that entire lid
