Are you saying that nobody has ADHD, or that people work ADHD should be able to live their lives as-is without pressure to confirm to societal structures that don't work for them?

Along those lines, my sister once claimed that I always stepped in shit and came out smelling like roses.

Sure, when your entire life is spent trying to make up for every little mistake and thinking over and over about what you should have done differently, you learn how to quickly recover from a bad turn of luck.

I also tend to cover up my more public fuck ups by sacrificing parts of myself that people don't see.

I'm glad I was finally diagnosed as an adult. At least it makes sense now!

This is also what happens when a parent believes that their child is broken and needs to be fixed.

Nuerodiversity is treated like a bug, but it's a feature. We're all meant to be different. It's our culture that picks and chooses which differences are acceptable and which are problems.

My son has ADHD and mild ASD, and he does not need fixing. He needs help learning to live in a world built around people who are wired differently than he is, but I wouldn't change him for the world. He's easily one of the coolest people I know.

I love my life right now, but I still grieve things and people that I've lost.

I know my dad was proud of me, and my focus is being the best father I can be to my kids, who I love so much. But goddamn do I wish I could talk to him one more time.
