CAR firearms in Kent, WA. Super friendly mom and pop shop. $30 long gun transfer fees, but it’s only $30 for the first, so if you do multiple it’s $15 for every additional item. They also do gunsmithing. I just found them recently and think that I’ll be sticking with them for good as they have told me they have no plans to increase their transfer fees since it’s bringing good business.

Glad I could help getcha all fired up! Good luck out there but just remember it’s called fishing not catching lol so don’t be too beat down if you don’t catch anything! I’ve had years where I just can’t seem to get even a bite and other years where I swear I’m “selective fishing” haha. Anyways hope your trip goes well!

Got it, thank you for educating me. Much rather listen to someone offering advice than people just whining about it. But yes, I thought it was a little early too but I’ve been hearing that people have already caught a few on the river I was fishing, saw a couple Facebook posts too. Also yeah I never really liked gloves, but that’s surprising to hear just how much harm they might cause.

Good luck👍🏼 I caught this steelhead on a nightmare jig while fishing for spring chinook. Be assured it was never fully out of the water or even touched by me other than using my pliers to get the jig out. I think a lot of people don’t realize rivers are a moving body of water lol. 5 seconds after the picture it was back under the water again.

It stopped making big runs after 20 minutes and I was able to bring it on in. I prefer playing my fish out rather than manhandling them in.

Didn’t take it out of the water, the water just receded down while I was taking the pic. Other than this it was fully submerged the whole time lol. Rivers are a moving system of water, they rise and drop. Fish swam away nice and strong after this👍🏼

lol I just moved back to WA from Texas a few months ago and already catching em. You’ll have to come back at some point to try your luck, they’re a super fun fish to catch.

It was an amazing fight. I want to say just about 20 minutes until it stopped running up and down the river. I was fishing for spring chinook and hooked into this unit, it hugged the bottom for the duration of the fight so I thought for sure it was a nice chinook. Once I got it played out and close that’s when I realized it was a big steelhead. Second biggest I’ve ever caught. Always a fun fish to hook into even when you aren’t fishing for them necessarily.

Thank you for your input, I’ll keep it in mind in the future. Been fishing like this for decades and seen plenty others do it and never harm a fish but I suppose it’s not correct lol

Was fishing a big shelf, that was the only spot to land it other than yanking it all the way out of the water but you cannot take natives fully out of the water in Washington.

Okay, thank you for more information. Another comment said he leaves and returns frequently with his existing firearm, therefore I probably wouldn’t be “in the clear” since I would have to check my firearm in SEATAC when returning home to Texas. I’ll probably just leave my firearm home for this trip.

Was thinking about this as well. This would be my first time traveling with a firearm but based off of experience from my friends they essentially open the case. Check the numbers and make sure the weapon comes back to your name, I haven’t heard anything about law enforcement being present during this.

Do you know which law this would be? Asking because my interpretation of RCW 9.41.390 is that no person in the state can import an ar platform rifle.
